Duchess of UmbrageBartending With Umbrage: The Watermelon Tequila-tini. Easiest tini in the world. Just chop a hunk of watermelon about the size of hockey puck (full disclosure: I have no idea how big a hockey puck is. Let’s just say a deck of cards), squeeze the heck out of it by any means necessary, add a bunch of silver tequila, and strain over ice. Needs no further additives, but a squeeze of lime wouldn’t go amiss. Magically delicious.Making this cocktail was mostly an excuse to try out my new Spark 2.0 lens. Back in the Aughts I was a Lensbaby fanatic. Recently I’ve been pinin’ for the olden days, so finally got one that will fit my mirrorless camera. Piggleston PecanpantsI made something I call The Hollis. It's an ounce of bacon bourbon, an ounce of maple whiskey, an ounce of blended whiskey, a dash of orange bitters and an orange twist. It tastes like it's ingredients suggest: smokey bacon, maple and a hint of orange to give it a lift. Piggleston PecanpantsWe're going on an excursion today. My partner found a couple liqueurs I haven't been able to find for over a year and he is taking me to the shop where he found them. I'm hoping they carry the whole line of Tempus Fugit products because I'd love to add Creme de Moka to my collection.
