Jouni OH3CUF<p>My first time ARDF (Amateur radio direction finding). Very fun! I found all five checkpoints! </p><p>80m was nice but 2m awful :). I was surprised that it was this way. 80m works very "directional" and 2m is all around and the direction is affected by environment a lot.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ardf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ardf</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/amateurradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amateurradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/radioamateur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>radioamateur</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/radiosport" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>radiosport</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_radio_direction_finding" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amateur_</span><span class="invisible">radio_direction_finding</span></a></p>
AI6YR Ben<p>Went fishing, but didn't catch anything, but it was nice outside anyway! <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/ardf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ardf</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a></p>
AI6YR Ben<p>Good diagram on the site there on how you direction find a signal. I have one leg now on the pirate and just need to go drive up closer to his house to figure out where he is along the line. <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/triangulation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>triangulation</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/ardf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ardf</span></a></p>
AI6YR Ben<p>It's pretty easy to find them if you have a couple of people to triangulate them...</p><p>Hams do this for fun, it's called Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF). Or "foxhunting".</p><p>A friend and I once did this for an airplane emergency locator beacon (accidental activation). The fire department helicopter had been out all day looking for that one, and we found it within an hour! (somebody accidentally switched one on in their flight bag, it was sitting in their garage) 😄 </p><p><a href="https://www.sarcnet.org/amateur-radio-direction-finding.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">sarcnet.org/amateur-radio-dire</span><span class="invisible">ction-finding.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/ardf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ardf</span></a></p>
DK4HAA - Harm<p>After photo shooting in a local park today, I'm happy to announce the official start of my new project website! </p><p><a href="https://draussenfuchs.de/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">draussenfuchs.de/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>It covers all about my ISM fox search/ARDF project.</p><p>It's still "beta" (if that is still a thing) and will be improved over time. Especially the Yagi build-instructions are still missing.</p><p>But, yeah, it's officially online now. Whoohoo! :alex_partying: </p><p>It's German only. So you might want to use your favored translator.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ardf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ardf</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/amateurfunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amateurfunk</span></a></p>
