I previously said that the #ALP can't claim a mandate for anything because they didn't actually introduce any new, big policy initiatives. That said... we continue to need a boring, stable government after two decades of circus politics and that's good.
However, Albo's biggest mistake to date was dumping Dreyfus and Husic. You don't change a winning team because of an unexpected landslide.
The factions have ignited the inevitable implosion...

Dumped cabinet minister says speaking out on Gaza partly to blame for his demotion
By Jake Evans

Dumped cabinet minister Ed Husic says his decision to speak out on the conflict in Gaza was partly to blame for him being dropped from the frontbench, while also lashing Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles as a political "assassin".

Newly-elected MP's global path to parliament
By Stephanie Richards

Newly-elected SA MP Claire Clutterham says her varied career — including an international role as a lawyer — has prepared her for her new role as the first woman to represent the seat of Sturt in Adelaide's eastern suburbs.

I don't think the #ALP can claim a mandate on anything because they didn't really have any big new policy ideas...
However, we the people, can claim a clear and present mandate that we DO NOT WANT nuclear power or far right extremist hate. That much is crystal clear...

It's a poison chalice for the #ALP

More seats means more minions pushing harder idealogical demands.
The #ALP will start fraying at the edges in about 12 months, which will give the #LNPClownCar a look in at the next election...IF... they're smart enough to elect a small L leader and come back to the sensible centre (BIG IF).
My only regret is that the independents didn't take more seats and get a minority #ALP gov't.

Dutton...🎆🎇🎊🎊🎊🎉🎆🎆🎆🎇✨️... huge bonus points‼️

Neither. #ALP are not as progressive as they used to be, and I'm afraid if they become majority government again, they will do even less. The best outcome would have been minority Labor government.

And this was the last fair election we had. From now on, indies and greens are irrelevant, and both major parties will hold the absolute power.

We are in our way towards UK style politics.

Day 29 🗳️

“A re-elected #Albanese government says it would find a further $6.4bn in savings by continuing to #slash the federal government’s use of #consultants and #LabourHire firms and ensuring #PublicServants do more core #work themselves.

The savings were announced as part of #Labor’s #policy #costings by the treasurer, #JimChalmers, who also downplayed a warning from global rating agency S&P that big #spending election commitments could put Australia’s treasured #AAADebt rating at risk.”

Public servants VS Consultants.

"The other prep he’s neglected is policy development. Is there a single headline policy he’s announced yet that hasn’t fallen apart on the first knock?"

Dutton's koolaid-sipping frottagerati tell him every moment; any brain fart, follow-through notwithstanding, will induce lust-swoons in the electorate. They would not know how to attack policy even-if you politely broke the circle to jam in a whitepaper in place of a tongue.

The #Greens, and the #ALP, get crazy angry about policy in their closed rooms. A policy that can survive that? It will be OK on it's own in the big wide world.

Also, subscribe to the fabulous @JB. In spite of his casual disregard for deadlines, he is a bloody good read:

Peter Dutton doesn’t know much.

What he does know is policing…surveillance, arrest, punishment, incarceration and deprivation of civil liberties.

Peter Dutton will not be happy until his security forces have you under constant surveillance, his security thugs can stop you without reasonable cause and his draconian public safety edicts take away your civil liberties.

Any government lead by him will use police (state) tactics because that is all he knows

A Peter Dutton lead government will undermine Australian democracy, disregard the rule of law and imperil individual rights.

Peter Dutton doesn’t know much.

He admitted that when he responded to a question about climate change during one of the debates.

What he does know is policing…surveillance, arrest, punishment, incarceration and deprivation of civil liberties.

Oh, and he does not respect the courts.

A Peter Dutton lead government will undermine Australian democracy, disregard the rule of law and imperil individual rights.

With the upcoming federal elections in May here in Australia, Peter Dutton, the leader of the Slightly More Conservative but Anti Renewable Energy Party has been doing his best to look like his idol, Trump.
Here he is contorting his little mouth so as to imitate the sponging mouth parts of a pre-Cambrian bottom feeding sea creature, like Trump!

People in #Australia were told by the #ALP that "cashless welfare", in other words coercive control by the government over those receiving welfare benefits, was removed, abolished and never to return.

No they just kept it up quietly #Auspol

I told people it was now called #eIM or "enhanced income management" but they didn't believe me.

It's still out there and you can bet if the coalition gets in it will become weaponised once again.

Shine the spotlight on it.

From Laura Tingle: this week has been an assessment of basic competence.

In which the #ALP shows it can perform actual governance alongside campaigning for reelection, while the #Libs demonstrate incompetence at both. Independent candidates, please take note.

I wonder for how long the media #DistractionMachine can effectively obscure this?

ABC News · We've all talked about potential economic consequences for Australia of Trump's policies. Now they're happeningBy Laura Tingle

#Auspol #Wages

i owe the #ALP an apology — i thought they were completely useless, but <same job same pay> is in principle an important leap forward.

since forever women and other marginalised people have been underpaid, based on the assumption they are less productive. now, employers can no longer use bias about productivity to discriminate in wages. (of course, they can continue to do what they have always done which is to simply not give jobs to women and marginalised people, but same job same pay does remove an excuse for ripping people off if they do have a job)

so… what does #LNP plan to do about it? if the party says they will repeal it but Dutton says he won’t, whom should we trust? If dutton doesn’t back down to party demands, how hard would it be to depose him as leader after the election?
