Tonight's movie

Alien Romulus.

I've avoided any spoilers or trailers for this movie. I'm going in fresh... I'm also going in fresh from the disappointment of Prometheus and Covenant. neither of which I hold very highly in the franchise.

So, fingers crossed this one will manage to recapture the feeling of the original Alien, or is more action based and fun like Aliens.... I don't want another slow plodding, poorly thought out plot with some of the most stupid 'scientists' ever to venture into space.

The tagline of the last 2 should have been 'In Space No One Can Hear Your IQ Decrease 80%'

SO it's not exactly got a high bar to beat has it. 😆

The director is an unknown to me too, Fede Alvarez has directed 2 other movies I'm aware of, but haven't seen. The remake of the Evil Dead and the US/English version of The Girl in the Spidersweb... I've not watched any of the English/US made versions of 'The Girl' trilogy

I really want it to be good... I've longed for another great Alien movie for decades. All I've seen is mediocrity so far.

letterboxd.comA ★★★★ review of Alien: Romulus (2024)Fede Alavarez immerses you into the Alien universe from the very beginning of this film with its retro-futuristic aesthetic and many references to the first movies of the saga. For sureiIt is not the best Alien movie in the saga, but it ranks very well after Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). A pleasure for any fan of the Xenomorph.
