Here is the seed we used from West Coast Seeds. Look at the tiny white flowers starting to bloom in the new "grass"!
And a picture of last year's planting. It is 99% clover I thibk because we used an old bag and the flowers were no longer viable. But a few poppies did sprout!

The (alternative mix*) grass is growing in the driveway and the rock tracks are solid.
* It’s not grass at all. Mostly native clover, plus poppies and some small flowering grasses. It looks patchy but the stated goal on the bag is for about 75% coverage so that it can grow, flower, seed itself, and then fill in naturally next year. I will add a picture of our side path that we did last year. The clover has indeed filled in nicely and it is staying nice and green with minimal water. You can see it on the left in the very back of the picture. The clover is about 30cm/1ft tall and is full of blooms.
Got the mowing done before it got too bad out. I hate the heat. I was able to enjoy stopping in shady spots around the property to eat mulberries off the trees. We're going to have a good crop this year. We're also loaded with black raspberries but they aren't ripe yet.
Working from home today due to scheduled highway closure which means I could do yardwork early when i would normally be commuting! Woot!
Thinned the apple trees! Slightly more apples on the Blushing Delight than the Northern Spy.
Both trees look healthy though it looks like aphids have invaded the Blushing Delight with the assistance of the local ant population.
We got more alt-grass seed to finish off the last part of the driveway before its' morning drink.

thankful for the rain today!! Only took a few days for the new grass/clover/flower mix to sprout!! 
Going to get hot this week so I am very glad it has begun successfully now.

@johnefrancis@cosocial.ca that was exactly the problem. And it sounds like a similar situation. This driveway used to be concrete, with concrete sides, actually sloping down into the garage/basement of the house. It used to flood! Not a good idea.
So when we closed that all in and finished the baasement in 2013 we made sure the perimeter drain was good and just tooped it wil soil/dirt overtop the mostly broken up driveway cement.
It has been annoyingly sloped to the left (with the slope of the hill we are on) ever since.
So this was all about finishing that all off getting it level but also making sure it was permeable and well drained since it tends to rain (and slush!) alot.
Here's the progression! (though when we first bought the house the garage door was blue and... not great lol)

GOT'ER DONE.
It started to drizzle and there was no way on this earth I was gonna let the lawn soil get all waterlogged before I added the last little bits needed. So I heaved one more load of drain rock back into the dolley and finished it off.
Needng to charge the car was a good motivator!

So close to finishing! Had a standing appointment at 3 so had to stop just short.
Might try to finish it after dinner. Supposed to rain tomorrow, it would be good for seeding the grass/clover!
Body is sooo sore, mostly from shovelling the drain rock which is simultaneously slippery on a shovel and heavy to lift and cart around. But the end is near!
Positioning the slate slabs at the car doors. Only had 3 left from the pond project. We’ll get another load of those in time.

called it quits at 2:30 so I could go grab the load of lawn soil Ill need to finish it off tomorrow. Almost got all the rocks replaced with the clay from the backyard but not quite fast enough. 
All good. It should be complete tomorrow and we'll be able to plant the clover/alt grass!

was an early start this morning. The challenge with doing things DIY is sometimes you do the wrong thing... usually it's not a big deal, and this wasn't, but it was a lot of shovelling to remove the drain rock I had put down.
After lunch I will start with what I should have done in the first place. Add in a bunch of dirt from the back to bring it close to the final level, get the a final load of top soil and then just put down a thin layer of rock.
I often take a pair of pruners on my walks around town in case there is a stray branch impeding the way, but I may need to start lugging around a machete (yes, I have one). Jokes aside, I wish homeowners would show a bit of respect to the low-vision residents in the neighborhood who have to navigate these obstacles. #swarthmore #walking #sidewalks #plants #walkability #pruning #hedges #yardwork #streets #traffic #pedestrian
Spent all day out in the #garden planting tomatoes (so many tomatoes…), squashes, peppers. Also: lavender, daisies, a rhododendron.
We’re about to be overwhelmed with raspberries, too.
I let the common milkweed go and it’s rampant. We better get some monarchs this year.
But now I’m exhausted.
Trimmed some trees in the yard and then took about a 2hr nap outside in my zero-gravity lawn chair. The breeze was so nice.
Now I think it’s time to go in and do something for dinner and watch TV.
Another step in the #backyard evolution. Old plum tree cut down on neighbour’s side. New plum (behind the ladder in 2nd pic) awaiting planting on our side.
Big earth moving day! We nearly finished the new level for the driveway. I know when my hands are tired beacuse my right thumb gets shaky/tremor-y when I try to type on a phone. Quite difficult!
But it was a good day. Two big loads of lawn soil (top soil+sand) and one load of river rock. Probably will need one more of each but it was enough to get about 75%!
$40ea and $60 respectively.
Bonus: EV looks like it is on one of those fancy ramps at the car dealership. Lol.

Yesterday, we spent time working in the backyard. I repaired a hinge on the back gate and mowed the lawn for the first time this year. I also trimmed around the fence until the battery on my trimmer died—I had forgotten to recharge it after its last use. In that moment, I couldn’t help but think, 'What a wonderful feature: built-in breaks! ' It turned out to be the perfect excuse to call it a day. Meanwhile, my wife was busy in the raised garden, planting something new. I noticed several little seed packets in the kitchen, hinting at her plans. This is the first time in years that something other than weeds will grow in the garden. I can't help but wonder what’s gotten into us—where did this burst of energy come from? Must be biorhythms at work.

Waiting for my first doordash order after spending some time in the yard today moving the project along...
Repurposed one of the garden boxes from the back where the new patio/bbq/paellaria will be beside the #poolPond to the front around the northern spy apple.
Also pulled the dead stuff from the front flower box and added new dirt.
Will need to get some fabric or chicken wire to keep the neighbour cats out of the apple tree box.
