When you want to play the original Space Quest from 1986, nothing beats the Amiga version and the experience of the Workbench interface. You can even play with a mouse! I'm loving this so much!

I wrote a blog post about building a small portable apartment scale workbench. Might be of interest to people here.
Hyperion releases AmigaOS 3.2.3, here in 2025. [The Register]
I finally found some time updating my WinUAE emulation setup. I had been putting this off for some time, but I am glad everything worked and the games are still running fine! This is so precious!
- Updated WinUAE to 5.3.1 (again)
- Updated Kickstarter ROMs to 47.115
- Updated Amiga OS 3.2 to 3.2.3
- Updated WHDLoad to 19.1
AMIGA!!!!!
holy shit team bike look at this:
[Post has been removed, but I saved the pictures in a reply below. GO LOOK!]
it's a fold-up workbench with a bike rack made by some DIYer in the 1980s out of plywood, it's still working, and it's being given away on Craigslist
if nothing else there are some design ideas here if you wanted to build something yourself
Earlier today, I unpacked and dumped a fresh set of Amiga Workbench 3.1 diskettes from 1994. Must have been one of the last original disks to be shipped by Commodore before they disappeared. I really love the old rainbow labels!
These disk images will not only work on original hardware, but also on WinUAE and similar Amiga emulators. Have fun!
If you need advice on doing things clean and perfect ... ASK to the AMIGA community before making shit!

For friends of the classic home computers of Commodore, here's a good set of the original Workbench 3.0 disk images for the A1200 and A4000. ADFs + KryoFluxes + disk scans. These will also work perfectly fine on WinUAE and similar Amiga emulators.

As always: Have fun!
Okay... took me a while to understand I needed to run the Amiga version of Space Quest 1 from Workbench 1.3.
I just love this system!

But on which computer?

I want to see your #workbench for your home #lab all I get to see is the stuff people put on YouTube which are beautiful but also sets. Even if they do all their work there is designed to look nice. I want your dirty, your messy, your unsorted storage bins, the parts that sit on the shelf that you should probably throw away.
#makers #electronics #iot hobbiests and professionals share your workbench!
@neffo @troed @dukope I also carry a torch for the #Amiga, having grown up in #Commodore's backyard in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and owned an #A500. But both the #Workbench 1.x and 2.x-onward default red mouse pointers were garish. probably deliberately so to contrast with the TV-friendly background colors.
Does anyone have a favorite workbench light / magnifying glass? #HamRadio #WorkBench
A random Friday night jam before bed: haven’t heard this in years but I do remember playing it on the air (an actual 45 rpm single at that) at the second radio station I worked at in the late 1980s.

Hit a bit of a road block this morning. I need to setup my 4 channel oscilloscope but my bench is a bit full. And my scope is gigantic. #electronics #workbench #RetroComputing #VintageComputing
After a trying couple of weeks, I completed a personal project today. Posting as therapy.
It's an #electronics #workbench, replacing a crappy folding plastic table I'd been using. Surface is #birch #plywood, with #cherry #hardwood for edging and a back lip so I can't push stuff off the back by accident. The shelves/racks for equipment are made of the same plywood and cherry.
Computer on arm for reference materials, and swings out of the way.
