Bug<p>Hello Fediverse!</p><p>I'm currently writing a master thesis where I will need to get some data on weather of different (mostly) European cities with some GPS coordinates for the last 5 years.</p><p>As this is a student project, I do not have much money to pay expensive API access to historical weather data.</p><p>Does anyone have a recommendation?<br>Thank you and try to be nice to yourself today :)<br> <br><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>python</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/api" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>api</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/spatial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spatial</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/WeatherData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WeatherData</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/weather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weather</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/recommend" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recommend</span></a></p>
Adam H. Sparks :rstats:<p>If you feel the need to download a large historical global data set of weather data for reasons; this is a useful command, `wget -r -np -A`. For e.g., get all years of the GSOD data from the US NCEI in a gzip format, <br>`wget -r -np -A gz <a href="https://www.ncei.noaa.gov/data/global-summary-of-the-day/archive`" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">ncei.noaa.gov/data/global-summ</span><span class="invisible">ary-of-the-day/archive`</span></a></p><p><a href="https://rstats.me/tags/WeatherData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WeatherData</span></a> <a href="https://rstats.me/tags/Climate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Climate</span></a> <a href="https://rstats.me/tags/Data" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Data</span></a> <a href="https://rstats.me/tags/DataAvailability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DataAvailability</span></a></p><p>Edited since the original command, while it worked, also went up one level and pulled down all HTML indices of other data sources. This should be more specific to just the gz files we want.</p>
JJ 🌱<p>Is there a <a href="https://mas.to/tags/weather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>weather</span></a> service that can spit out a dynamic calendar feed for hourly forecasts? <a href="https://mas.to/tags/WeatherData" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WeatherData</span></a></p><p>I'd love for upcoming hours of clear sunshine to pop up among my appointments ☀️ because I will absolutely reschedule shit to get more Vitamin D</p>
