Jan Wildeboer 😷:krulorange:
#UnpopularOpinion The EU walking back on #DigitalTax will be painted as a Trump win, but I think it was a fundamentally wrong plan anyway. We already have enough laws and regulations in place to limit the power of (US) BigTechCorps. The real problem is that our authorities hesitate to actually use them.

We should create ourselves a new way of doing it. Someone is working on that, someone is just running after the remains of now decayed monsters, others think that they can get a share of the pie.

Nicky🦨✌️
#unpopularopinion
It’s not the 1% or the 1% of 1%—it’s the next 9% who are a bigger part of the problem. They don’t need medicare, they don’t need their social security (it’s a joke amount anyway they say) —they have enough. Back in the day the middle class people knew that they were expendable to their employers the 1% so they advocated for those with less and for public works…now they simp for billionaires.

Jan Wildeboer 😷:krulorange:
#UnpopularOpinion The influence of Monty Python is overrated. Life of Brian and The Holy Grail etc are now Boomer relics. The younger generations will have either never seen any of it and if they did they will think it’s too cringe to mention. And I agree with them. It’s time has passed.

Benjamin Ross
#unpopularopinion
Once you make the stupid decision to target tariffs by country rather than by product, Trump's method of setting the tariffs is the best you can do.
A more complex model would be full of unmeasured parameters for which you'd have to guess the values. The result would be no more effective in reaching your goals, and neither you nor outsiders would understand why they are what they are.

Seth Galitzer
Seeing a lot of chatter the last couple of days about the new Bambu printer specs just released. I'm still entirely meh about it. Human 3500
#UnpopularOpinion

I once had a great job. Idiots did stupid things and we all lost our jobs.

As I listen to all the tariff stories, they all seem to be from people that expect this business downturn and uncertainty to be temporary.

They ran companies that were largely dependent on a foreign country which for years has been isolationist and self centered.

Now that that country has decided to go it alone, their entire strategy is to hope they change their mind. There is no diversifying their product line or widening their marketing targets. These, like my senior management are terrible managers.

No one saved my job. The government did nothing and billions of dollars of GDP left the country.

The reality is that bad things always happen. You get dumped, fired or divorced. Do you hang around them and hope they change their mind? No. You move on. Well, some people stick around it and destroys them.

I would like to hear stories of people actually doing something other than hope and prayers.

Seth Galitzer
I grew up loving Heinlein. I read all his "juvenile" books as a preteen, and all the Lazarus Long books as a young adult, through my 20s & 30s. I own copies of most of his works. You could say
I'm a fan. On a recent trip to my local library, I came upon a recently published work, entitled "The Pursuit of the Pankera". It's a posthumously published work, with approval by his family estate, which proudly claims to be written "in parallel" alongside "Number of the Beast".
#scifi #unpopularopinion
