It proves that the person writing these toots is the same person writing those blog articles on my website, and those code repositories on my <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/GitHub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GitHub</span></a> profile. </p><p>Now, the real question: Is that kind of verification actually valuable? For a relatively obscure guy like me, whose influence extends only as far as his own personal and professional networks, not extremely. But there's always a non-zero risk that someone out there will attempt to deceive someone I know by pretending to be me.
