#Snettisham Hoard F has some very strange stuff going on, but I think I'm starting to understand it.
This paper leads on from one I wrote about the Grotesque torc & lays down evidence for the next paper I'm currently writing...
Enjoy!

A read for the weekend. Related to something - well, two things really - that I'm writing at the mo.
More to come soon, but in the meantime, here's the prequel!!

Decided to write a thing about something else I've spotted in the #Snettisham volumes...

I needed to write something to get my mojo back and here it is: a silly blog for the season...

Well, it's taken me all day and three gos, adapting each time to right an issue, but I've now got a just about perfect plaster Netherurd...
A real challenge as chocolate didn't need to be bang on... this one does, as a model, just in case my mould ever gets messed up.
Honestly, there was no way someone ever hollow cast this!!
Did you see anything? Please share - these items are highly distinctive.
New paper launching tomorrow - torcs, vikings, a new find... and a bit of thievery! It's a doozy!
Well, here it is! The paper we've enjoyed researching & writing more than any other. The Crazy Paper AKA -
‘All the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order’: The riddle of the ‘Pulborough Area’ torc from Sussex.' by Tess Machling, Roll Williamson & Giovanna Fregni.

A stunning #torc from the Erstfeld Treasure, showing animals that merge into each other to form fanciful creatures. The treasure was deposited in a rock crevice in a valley leading to the Gotthard Pass, probably as votive offerings of a group of travellers. It consists of four golden #torcs and three golden arm rings. Found in Erstfeld, Switzerland, dating around 390 BC. On display at Landesmuseum Zurich.
Recently, I've lost my spark. But, research recently, working with collaborative folks, has brought it back.
Later today, on BBoT, we're going to release a pre-print of a thing we wrote ages ago that's got caught in the system & we're going to release it in a way that works with how we do things: in full colour - unlimited images - glory:
"Beyond Snettisham: a reassessment of gold alloy torcs from Iron Age Britain and Ireland"
(As ever, thanks to Roll: he gets it.)
A new notebook has been started... and it's suitably glittery for the blingiest, most in your face, bit of piratical research we've done yet!!
Really looking forward to this one.
