OmilenI took this photo of king penguins in Porvenir, Tierra del Fuego, Chile, my beautiful country. The King Penguins of Tierra del Fuego are the only colony that inhabits South America. In 2010, this charismatic seabird arrived in Tierra del Fuego to feed, breed and live. The reproductive cycle of the king penguin is the longest of the 18 penguin species, lasting between 14 and 15 months from courtship to the end of breeding, they do not build nests and lay only one egg that the father or mother incubates between their feet. If successful, they lay two eggs in a period of three years.
