The Vinyl Ape 🦧<p>THE BOX<br>The Box<br>1984 Canada pressing</p><p>Another one from my “destination wedding haul” from last weekend.</p><p>As common as this record is, it wasn’t easy for me to get one until last weekend.<br>I NEVER saw it anywhere until last Saturday, and I’m thrilled to finally have it.</p><p>I have a GREAT deal of love for this odd little band. If it were ever possible for a <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/newwave" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>newwave</span></a> / <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/synthpop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>synthpop</span></a> band to be <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/prog" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>prog</span></a> / <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/progressive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>progressive</span></a> (or vice versa), then THE BOX were definitely it. </p><p>All three of their first records are SUPER cool, and this one here has one of my favorite <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/80s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80s</span></a> songs ever on it in “Walk Away”. </p><p>“Dancing On The Grave” is also stellar, and is a perfect blend of that new wave/prog sensibility. “War Going On” has a great vocal by Jean-Marc Pisapia, who was also (very briefly) a member of Men Without Hats.</p><p>THIS shit is way cooler than The Safety Dance ever was.</p><p><a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinyl</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylrecords" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylrecords</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylcollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylcollection</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vinylcommunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vinylcommunity</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/retro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retro</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/vintage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vintage</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/1980s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1980s</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/80s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80s</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/80sMusic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>80sMusic</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/Montreal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Montreal</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/TheBox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TheBox</span></a></p>
