T**** typically (as he always does) refused to pick a side and called himself an "Independent" for years.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TheBirtherKing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TheBirtherKing</span></a> frequented <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RNC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RNC</span></a> Conventions (including McCain's in 2008), and IIRC in 2000, people asked him about running back then, but he declined.</p><p>It wasn't until <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Obama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Obama</span></a> made fun of him at the WH Corospondent's Dinner in 2010 that his wounded ego convinced him to run.</p>
