I also dread people who ask "why" you want to do something.
Because more often than not, "why" is going to turn into a debate, instead of the person trying to better understand my goal. "Why" is often used as a gateway to tell me you'd do it differently, completely ignoring that I want to do something, this way, without your feedback on the matter.
It would be so different if the person replied with, "well here is how you do it your way, but I would consider doing it this way, and here is why" -- That would be helpful and productive. I would welcome that, very much.
Instead, you get, "Why" followed by, "this is how I do it, and I am going to ignore your method of doing it". And their method likely is incompatible with my other random things I've already have working, and so they likely lead to another thing and another thing and another -- It is my PC, not yours, and I'll use it however I like.
