And anyway, Rome didn't really get sacked, per se. Yes, the city itself did, but by that point "Rome" and Rome weren't the same thing. Most of the "barbarian hordes" you hear about "sacking" Rome were nothing of the sort.</p><p>History doesn't repeat itself. It echoes sometimes, but we're our own thing. Do the responsible thing and stop using history as a prediction. Also actually read history so you stop making embarrassing mistakes when you use it to predict things.</p>
