#AbrahamLincoln had a puzzling relationship to #religion. For several years I had the privilege of researching the role of religion in his life for the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in #Springfield, #Illinois. In 2021, my research focused on religion in the early decades of Springfield’s history through the period of Lincoln’s residency there, which had a formative impact on Lincoln’s own religious faith.

A good friend and former colleague teaches at a college near #Springfield, OH. One of her students, who is an immigrant from Haiti, missed class and she found out he lied about his excuse. He confessed that he saw armed #ICE goons outside his apartment and was afraid to go outside. HE IS HERE LEGALLY. His papers are in order.

I confess I don't blame him - I wouldn't have gone out either since we are no longer governed by the rule of law.
