argv minus one<p>Back when I used <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/gdm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>gdm</span></a> I noticed that it leaves the login screen up on tty1 at all times, even if a session is active. Why the hell does <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/sddm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sddm</span></a> not do that?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/GNOME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GNOME</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a></p>
argv minus one<p>Getting real sick of <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/sddm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sddm</span></a> 's bugs. The latest: it starts a session but fails to switch to the virtual console where the session was started, instead leaving me on a black screen with nothing but a flashing cursor on it.</p><p>Two separate things went stupidly, stupidly wrong here:</p><p>1. Failure to switch VC. (Did it try to switch too soon?)</p><p>2. Failure to leave the login screen up on tty1 so I could at least try logging in again.</p><p>🤦‍♂️</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/KDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>KDE</span></a></p>
