Doctors treating the daily influx of children #starving under Israel’s total blockade on aid , say some are so undernourished that they have started to lose their sight.

“The majority of cases are between 1 month and 2 yo,” says Dr Raed Al-Baba, a gastroenterologist & nutritionist at Al-Awda Hospital in northern #Gaza. He helps treat around 100 #children brought in daily, mostly because of hunger.

ChuffedThe Refaat Alareer Camp - by The Sameer ProjectThe Sameer Project, a grassroots aid organization led by four Palestinians in the diaspora, is proud to announce our first tent encampment project that provides shelter and specialized support to displaced families in Central Gaza. This first encampment will serve some of the most vulnerable families: highrisk perinatal and neonatal females, children with physical or mental disabilities, adults with special needs and mobility issues, war injuries and chronic diseases. With this narrowed criteria, we will be able to serve the most critical population with tailored services and facilities, to enhance their health, safety of gestation and delivery for babies and new mothers, prevent complications and further injury of wounds, as well as care for the children and adults that need special attention. In addition, this takes a burden off the over-stressed hospital system as we also take referrals from medical NGOs to accomaodate the most urgent cases as they await medical evacuations out of Gaza by the World Health Organization.

Today's update from the Sameer Project in North Gaza:

May 3rd 2025: 93,000 Liters of Fresh Water, 150 Hot Rice Meals, 2000 Loaves of Bread

"We managed to secure some of the last remaining flour in North Gaza, but at an extremely high price of approximately $400 per 25kg bag. These flour supplies are dwindling very quickly, and we expect further reductions in production capacity in the coming days."

Director of Al-Tahrir Hospital at Nasser Medical Complex, Dr. Ahmed Al-Farra: - The children of the #Gaza Strip are in the most difficult stages of malnutrition and are difficult to follow through medically due to the lack of treatment medicines and child milk. - The condition of the child "Assa Al-Naqeb" outlines what the children of #Gaza are suffering as a result of the lack of safe sources of nutrition and drinking water. - The #Gaza Strip is going through the fifth phase of malnutrition, which is the most severe phase according to the World Health Organization. - The lack of appropriate nutrition and medicines for pregnant mothers is seriously reflected in births, especially children who have been uprooted. - The continued prevention of food supplies and pharmaceuticals indicates that the children of the #Gaza Strip are facing a dangerous and catastrophic scene.
