Running has been a popular sport for a long time, and it's no surprise that there are more and more developments from the sports industry and enthusiasts who want to sell us something amazing that will completely revolutionise our #running performance

Take this shoe, for example, coming with an "AI-powered running sensor". Maybe we should start running barefoot instead, coming with a battle tested, pure-human running sensor ...

I ded.

The Oura is good for general health tracking. But for activity tracking, like higher intensity stuff, it’s not great.

I was redlining while running. My Apple Watch Ultra 2 was spot on with an average HR of 165bpm.

The Oura graph shows me during the period where I was running not even getting above 100bpm.

A day from the training journal of Robert Barclay Allardice (famous pedestrian in the early 19th century; famous for 1 mile in 1 hour for 1000 successive hours):

5AM: 1/2 mi hill sprint + 6 mi walking @ moderate pace
Breakfast: beefsteak, stale bread, old beer
9AM: 6 mi walking @ moderate + 1/2h nap at noon + 4 mi walking @ moderate
4PM: Dinner same as breakfast
5PM: 1/2 mi hill sprint + 6 mi walking @ moderate
8PM: sleep
