Wintermute_BBS<p>Cleaning up my closet, I've just discovered that 'official 7" touchscreen LCD for Raspberry Pi' I bought about a decade ago and I thought it'd make for a nice little <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/serial" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>serial</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/terminal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>terminal</span></a> device to connect to my <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a> or maybe even install <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RetroPie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RetroPie</span></a> on it.</p><p>Now, it's been at least five years that I last wasted time with RaspberryPi OS, as it is now called.</p><p>Back then, you would simply add your wifi data to wpa_supplicant.conf, touch an empty file named "ssh" in the boot partition of the sdcard and the system was pre-configured to use wifi on its initial boot.</p><p>Now, imagine my endless excitement when I found out that this is no longer possible and one needs a fucking dedicated tool for pre-configuring and writing the OS image 🤮 </p><p>Wow, well done you fuckers! I regeret even bothering to tinker with that shit again. *yuck*</p>
