Emily_S<p>Reasonably quiet repair cafe today. At least in the electronics department. Apparently there was a lot of garden tool sharpening going on in the other room.</p><p>I dealt with two items today, an electric whisk which had worn out gears and was skipping, and thus getting out of sync so the beaters where colliding. Alfred Chow - Maker of Things<p>We are back from the repair cafe workshop.<br>It was really good, and everyone attending seemed to enjoy it, based on the informal feedback and conversations afterwards.</p><p>But it was hard work, and we are tired out, as much from the heat as from the day.</p><p>But it was good.</p><p>While there demonstrating how to approach a repair I repaired an angle grinder, and diagnosed a hedge trimmer as having a broken motor shaft.</p><p>Once back home, I got on in the workshop and finished the repair of the armchair, it can be returned tomorrow.</p><p><a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/RepairCafe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RepairCafe</span></a></p>

Bonus: people come with dogs that you can cuddle while watching your stuff being repaired ❤️</p>

I made my first experience with a <a href="https://circumstances.run/tags/RepairCafe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RepairCafe</span></a> and it was bombastic! To give justice to this <a href="https://circumstances.run/tags/Bosch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bosch</span></a> food processor, it survived 10 years of intensive use, but I could easily identify <a href="https://circumstances.run/tags/design" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>design</span></a> patterns that made it harder to repair with no obvious benefit. And I learned that a simpleton like me can totally learn how to repair stuff and it’s a lot of fun. Big kudos to the volunteer who stayed overtime to bring this old gizmo back to life. He had worked for Shell his entire life and, once retired, decided to do something for the environment and learn how to fix things to reduce waste.</p>
