Fancy graphics don't mean squat if you can't keep up with the (now metaphorical) beam, and last I heard, <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/RayTracing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RayTracing</span></a> was slower than a bottle of molasses left outside in Antarctica for a month.</p><p>What does ray tracing even buy you, anyway? Sure, it's nice and elegant as a way to render the whole scene, but if you're still rasterizing most of it, then what the hell is the point? Reflections in puddles?
