🎙"#Reproducibility isn’t just about repeating results, it’s about making the #research process transparent, so others can follow the path you took and understand how you got there."

🎧Listen to our new OpenScience podcast with Sarahanne Field @smirandafield

⏳ In this 10 min episode, Sarahanne reimagines reproducibility for #qualitative research.
She addresses challenges in ethical #data sharing of transcripts, and the importance of clear methodological reporting.

Ok #research people, question about how to deal with a potential scammer in a #qualitative study on patient voice.

It was clear that this participant (n=14 group), lied about having hepatocellular carcinoma as required by the recruitment, and was making stuff up as he went. His answers to prompts were vague, general, he couldn't remember if he was on chemo, or had surgery, or underwent radiation, etc

He had no influence on the study results, but should I discuss him in the paper or just leave?

Continued thread

I tagged research data over multiple years.

There was an unintended outcome of tagging ALL observations from every Agile sprint—rather than only tagging observations that related to the current sprint's research focus…

As time passed, some of the qualitative data became quantitative as the sample size grew.

Last week, I asked for examples of well-described qualitative analysis to share with researchers new to #QualitativeResearch.

I've compiled the suggestions, plus some examples of my own here: jesshagman.info/posts/1135-qua

cc @NoraGottlieb who nudged me to share these back out and @DonnaLanclos and @adam42smith for sharing examples, and the many who boosted my request.

I'll happily update with other examples if you think of them.

*grits teeth* ok so I'm a legal academic at Durham. My research is broadly #sociolegal and #qualitative, and my area is #publiclaw / #constitutionallaw. I focus much more on the non-judicial branches of the state, the #executivebranch and #legislativebranch / #legislatures/ #Parliaments. I'm *particularly* interested in the role of #officials / #civilservice/ #bureaucracy, and the maintenance of ideals in the grubbiness of organisation. I think I've used up my hashtags quota for the year....
