Through many mechanisms, some of which are listed in this article. <br>The accumulative effect of micro-aggressions in our day-to-day communications mean we a) help maintain an unhealthy and exploitative status quo, and, b) avoid, as much as we can in our given situation, taking any personal responsibility for anything that’s happening. <br>The answer, therefore, to the question, “Why is the world such a mess, why is there inequality and injustice, and exploitation?” could be, “Because we are all fearful, protecting ourselves, and stuffed full of conditioning and unconscious responses that maintain the status quo and make sure those of us with any power, keep it.

I really need to write something about why having mega instances on the fediverse is a problem that’s longer than a toot.

Probably a good time for a post on the subject given I now have about the same number of people following me here as I did when I closed my Twitter account.

(It took close to eight years to get there.)
