Guess what #JoeBiden didn't do?!! Thanks, Joe! Would it have been a mute point? Perhaps! But it would have sent a message!

"Two Democratic senators are urging the Biden administration to issue a policy directive that could temporarily limit President-elect Donald Trump's ability to deploy #USMilitary troops domestically after he takes office.

"Sens. #ElizabethWarren, D-Mass., and #RichardBlumenthal, D-Conn., both members of the Armed Services Committee, sent a letter dated Nov. 26 to President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that urged them to issue a policy directive that would ensure that U.S. troops can be used only when local or state authorities ask for federal help or are unable or unwilling to protect the public."

"#InsurrectionAct sounds familiar because it is this is the same act that #Trump wanted to enact during the #GeorgeFloyd protests of 2020 this is a law that's almost as old as the United States and allows the United States president to deploy troops into the streets of America to maintain their idea of Law and Order and balance.

"Now the smarty pants Folks at NPR summarized the Insurrection act as granting the power to the president to suppress any Insurrection domestic violence unlawful combination or conspiracy which is direct language but it's still pretty broad. Okay it's Broad and Trump knows that it's broad which is why he openly said that he regretted not enforcing the Insurrection act back in 2020. Now David Gross also points out that whenever you hear discussions surrounding border use and the word Invasion it is likely so that the state can point to Article 1 Section 10 of the Constitution this section denies States the power to engage in war unless they are invaded which is why they use the word invading in the section before. Article 1 Section 9 protects habus Corpus unless in case of #rebellion or Invasion where the #PublicSafety may require it so you can see what they're starting to set up here. Okay they're setting up this idea of a border crisis they are projecting what's happening at our Southern border mostly as an invasion. I mean are you doing that to invoke the constitutional rights you have to start a war or like lock people up without trials like starting to look a little spooky here..."

"V" uses humor and sarcasm to get their point across! A must watch!!!

Under The Desk News, Feb 7, 2025

"It’s Friday night, and you’re staring at the movies on your local streaming service. Up next in the queue is a little film called 'Martial Law,' which leads you into two questions. One, why wasn’t Cynthia Rothrock a bigger star? And two, what even IS #MartialLaw?

"Outside of the context of that film, martial law is a loosely defined concept that would enable the president to enact FULL power over the law and the troops in the event of an emergency. Think a state of emergency, like we saw in the recent Hurricanes, but to the max: martial law is a forced curfew, trial by MILITARY, and a complete dissolution of our civil rights like we’ve never seen before.

"But how likely is it to happen in America? Has it happened before? And will it happen again? The answer honestly shocked the hell out of me - it may shock you, too." [It shocked me!]

New order - "Your silent face"

I was staying with my relatives in Scotland, and my cousin played this record.
Later on, I tried to re-find it — I had no idea what band it was, or the name of the record, but I remembered the cover, and that it said "FACT 75" on the cover. I didn't know that that was the record label's numbering of their records, but it was just what the record store needed and I got my record. On CD, though, because this was years later.

One of their tracks popped up in my mind, and I think this was the track.

#ThamesWater boss defends exec #bonuses as #SewageSpills soar

Thames reported a 40% rise in #sewage #pollution with 359 incidents in the six months to September.

Lora Jones & Simon Jack, December 10, 2024

"The boss of Thames Water has defended executive bonuses as the firm calls for a hike in customer bills to ensure its survival.

"Chris Weston said the supplier needed to offer "competitive packages" to attract talent, but the water regulator has previously said that customers must not foot the bill for "undeserved bonuses".

"It comes as the embattled company saw a 40% increase in pollution incidents in the six months to 30 September, as its debts continued to swell, according to its latest set of results.

"Thames approaches a critical moment next week, with Ofwat set to decide whether to allow a proposed 59% increase in consumer bills over the next five years.

"The ailing business is saddled with debts which stood at just under £16bn at the end of September.

"The firm has said customer bills need to rise or else it will not be able to recover from its financial crisis. However, if the company does collapse, water supplies will not be affected.

"Water firms across the UK have faced a fierce backlash over sewage discharges and pipe leaks in recent years, but Thames has been in the spotlight given its debt pile, and the fact one in four people in the UK rely on it.

"Critics have argued the water industry has historically neglected investment in favour of paying executive bonuses and shareholder dividends.

"But on Tuesday, Mr Weston defended bosses getting £770,000 in bonuses.

"'I completely understand that there are customers out there who struggle with their bills,' he added, pointing to bill support offered to about 377,000 customers in the last year.

"Mr Weston, who was hired in January, was also awarded a bonus of £195,000 for his first three months at the company."

#Netanyahu is set to take the witness stand for the first time in his #corruption trial in #Israel

By TIA GOLDENBERG, December 9, 2024

JERUSALEM (AP) — "Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to take to the witness stand Tuesday for the first time in his trial on corruption allegations, a pivotal point in the drawn-out proceedings that comes as the leader wages war in Gaza and faces an international arrest warrant for war crimes charges.

"At home, Netanyahu is on trial for accusations of fraud, breach of trust and accepting bribes in three separate affairs. Netanyahu denies wrongdoing, but his appearance on the witness stand will be a low point in his decades-long political career, standing in contrast to the image of a sophisticated, respected leader he has tried to cultivate.

"The trial will take up a chunk of Netanyahu’s time at a crucial point for Israel. While he makes his case for weeks from the stand, he will still be tasked with managing the war in Gaza, maintaining a fragile ceasefire with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah and keeping tabs on threats from the wider Middle East, including Iran. BBC uncovers 6,000 possible illegal #sewage spills in one year

"BBC analysis suggests dry spills may have started on more than 200 days in 2022, lasting more than 29,000 hours – including during the record summer heatwave when people were cooling off in England’s rivers and seas."

By Esme Stallard, Jonah Fisher and Sophie Woodcock, BBC News Climate and Science • Becky Dale and Libby Rogers, BBC News Data Journalism Team

June 13, 2024

"Every major English #WaterCompany has reported data suggesting they’ve discharged #RawSewage when the weather is dry – a practice which is potentially illegal.

"BBC News has analysed spills data from nine firms, which suggests sewage may have been discharged nearly 6,000 times when it had not been raining in 2022 - including during the country’s record #heatwave.

"Water companies can release untreated sewage into rivers and seas when it rains to prevent it #flooding homes, but such spills are illegal when it’s dry.

"The firms say they understand public concerns around dry spilling, but they disagree with the BBC’s findings.

"They have said the spill data shared with the Environment Agency was 'preliminary' and 'unverified', and also disagree with how the BBC defined a dry spill, which they say differs from the Environment Agency’s approach.

"The latest findings follow a BBC investigation conducted last year which found 388 instances of possible dry spilling in 2022 by three water companies - Thames, Wessex and Southern - after they shared their data with the BBC.

"The other six – Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, Severn Trent, South West Water, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water - had refused to share data about when they might be spilling with the BBC. They said it could prejudice an ongoing criminal investigation by the #EnvironmentAgency (EA) and #Ofwat into their activities."

"It appears to be a payoff": Expert says #Kushner's #Saudi cash an "egregious" national security worry

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden is investigating Saudi support for #JaredKushner's private equity firm

By Charles R. Davis
June 12, 2024

"As The New York Times reported in April, Kushner’s investment fund, valued at $3 billion, 'is financed almost entirely from overseas investors with whom he worked when he served as a senior adviser in the Trump White House.'

"Some two-thirds of that money has come from #SaudiArabia’s state-run Public Investment Fund, whose own advisers deemed Kushner’s fund 'unsatisfactory in all aspects' only to be overruled by a board that includes Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the man who ordered the killing of U.S.-Saudi journalist #JamalKhashoggi when Trump was in office and who Kushner today describes as a 'visionary leader.' The other third? Much of it reportedly comes from other #SovereignWealthFunds run by the likes of #Qatar and the #UnitedArabEmirates.

"That arrangement — Kusner receiving billions of dollars from friends he made as a government employee — has attracted scrutiny from Democrats and watchdog groups, who suspect that Charles Kushner’s son (turned #Ivanka #Trump’s husband) might be doing so well for reasons that are not entirely above board."
