Kevin Karhan :verified:<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ohno_itsnate" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>ohno_itsnate</span></a></span> Granted, the <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/USA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>USA</span></a> is a garbage market in terms of devices and networks, <em>way worse</em> than <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/Germany" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Germany</span></a> was in the 1990s cuz even then <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/NetLock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NetLock</span></a> & <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/SimLock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SimLock</span></a> was so unpopular that no <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/postpaid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postpaid</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/customer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>customer</span></a> accepted those and even in <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/prepaid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>prepaid</span></a> with subsidized handsets they got basically boycotted out of the market in the early 2000s.</p><p>I do acknowledge that <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://grapheneos.social/@GrapheneOS" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>GrapheneOS</span></a></span> has valid reasons why they keep few devices supported (tho granted it's up to <a href="https://infosec.space/tags/vendors" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>vendors</span></a> to up their game - their demands ain't absurd nor unfulfillable!)...</p>
