The Chief Science Advisor’s report notes that “with each covid reinfection, the risk of developing PCC is cumulative.” Postsecondary students are particularly vulnerable to repeated COVID-19 infections because of shared living spaces (dorms, student housing) and frontline work (waiting tables and retail jobs, for instance), and transmission can be boosted by extensive mixing due to complex timetables and crowded spaces on campuses.

The BC Finance Minister says she "will not cut services”, but they are. Unless you don't consider Post Secondary Education a “service". My University has and will be laying off multiple professors, staff and others and closing entire programs.
All because our government funding has not increased in line with costs for years and decades.
(even while tuitions are higher than ever and students are struggling to make ends meet and attend classes)

I hope when she addresses the "depth of the hurt” that it includes the chilling effect she had on the #postsecondary community when she publicly — and allegedly directly in private — advocated for the firing of a college instructor for their political views.
I have met Mrs Robinson. She's a nice person and incredibly hard working. She will be feeling the hurt herself. That is part of taking responsibility.

"Brandy Johnson, president of the #Michigan Community College Association, praised the governor’s proposal, saying in a statement that it would help remove financial barriers that 'make attaining a #postsecondary education seem impossible,' for many high school graduates.
"Under Whitmer’s proposal, eligible students must have lived in Michigan for the year prior to enrollment, must have a high school diploma and must not have previously completed a college degree. Students would have up to three years to obtain their associate’s degree."
