Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>Still obsessed with the cutest nesting strategy going. The Eastern Snail Shell Mason Bee (Osmia conjuncta) is a small North American blue bee which makes nests in suitable empty snail shells! In my linocut I show this adorable little pollinator with a Cepaea shell. Each print is 8” by 8” on delicate Japanese kozo (or mulberry) paper.</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/linocut" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linocut</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/sciart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sciart</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/masonBee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>masonBee</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/Osmia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Osmia</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/nativeBee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nativeBee</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/pollinator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pollinator</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/mastoart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mastoart</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://minouette.etsy.com/listing/1401318897" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">minouette.etsy.com/listing/140</span><span class="invisible">1318897</span></a></p>

SnowshadowII :maple:<p>😍 🥰 Forest Orphans<br>Swaddled symbols of hope and regeneration, orphaned flying foxes rest up and grow, preparing for their role as some of Australia’s most important forest stewards.</p><p>"When they reach adulthood, these swift acrobats of the forest will be capable of keeping pace with a car traveling 30 miles per hour. And it’s a good thing—they have an important job to do. A keystone species that dwells in the eucalyptus forests and mangrove thickets of eastern Australia and Papua New Guinea, spectacled flying foxes spend their days consuming the nectar, pollen, blossoms, and fruits of both native and non-native trees. They then spread the pollen that clings to their fur and the seeds they consume as they travel between patches of habitat, ensuring the trees’ survival and longevity—as well as their own."</p><p><a href="https://beige.party/tags/Australia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Australia</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Science" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Science</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Conservation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Conservation</span></a> <br><a href="https://beige.party/tags/pollinator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pollinator</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nature</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/GoodNews" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoodNews</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.biographic.com/forest-orphans/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">biographic.com/forest-orphans/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>

Generally flies April to June. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/moth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>moth</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/mothsandbutterflies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mothsandbutterflies</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/MothsMatter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MothsMatter</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/lepidoptera" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>lepidoptera</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/entomology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>entomology</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/insect" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>insect</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/animal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>animal</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/creature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>creature</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/wildlife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wildlife</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/garden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>garden</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/pollinator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pollinator</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/alttext" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>alttext</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.green/tags/cute" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cute</span></a></p>

Moos<p>When you think you're doing good for nature, it could be counterproductive. Wildflowers growing on land previously used for buildings and factories can accumulate lead, arsenic and other metal contaminants from the soil, which are consumed by pollinators as they feed, a new study has found. The metals have previously been shown to damage the health of these pollinators.<br><a href="https://planetearth.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://planetearth.social/tags/biodiversity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>biodiversity</span></a> <a href="https://planetearth.social/tags/ecosystems" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecosystems</span></a> <a href="https://planetearth.social/tags/pollinator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pollinator</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/04/250415211241.htm" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">sciencedaily.com/releases/2025</span><span class="invisible">/04/250415211241.htm</span></a></p>
