Marlene Breitenstein Art<p>🌄 Happy Thursday everyone! Here is a blue hour photo of vineyard hills, about 20 minutes away from where I live. Germany has many beautiful areas, and the Palatinate region is no exception. B.ellaI love donkeys!<br> So could there be anything more beautiful for me than a <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/village?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#village</a> with brightly painted donkeys everywhere? Of course not 😃<br> Even better: There are 38 of them in total!<br> You may wonder why is the village full of donkeys?! According to the website: In the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Palatinate?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Palatinate</a> there are numerous nicknames for the inhabitants of neighbouring villages - in former times certainly used to annoy the neighbours, today the nicknames are used rather affectionately and even the villagers themselves now seem to wear their nicknames proudly. This is also the case with the Eschbach donkeys!<br> The name probably goes back to the noble owners of the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Madenburg?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Madenburg</a> in the 15th century. The nobles, the so-called "Society with the Donkey", not only used donkeys as farm animals and beasts of burden, but also contested tournaments on donkeys instead of horses.
