We loved it on our test drive but were concerned about its low reliability rating with #consumerreports .

As best we could tell, it's still apparently having ICCU and 12 volt failures, occasionally with long waits for parts, despite several recalls in the past few years.

Would have loved to get one but we went with a more reliable #toyota #RAV4 #PHEV for the next 3 years.

We didn't look at #Tesla because we're not fascists.😉

#Ford's electric #MachE outsold the gas-powered Mustang for the first time in #2024
"Every Ford #EV model set a new sales record in 2024 with double-digit growth," with Ford's total U.S. #electricvehicle sales jumping to 97,865, an increase of 34.8% from 2023.
In 2024, Ford sold nearly 285,300 ” electrified ” vehicles, including electric vehicles (EV), #hybrids (HEV), and plug-in hybrids (#PHEV), more than GM and Stellantis.

Electrek · Ford’s electric Mach-E outsold the gas-powered Mustang for the first time in 2024By Peter Johnson

I’ve wondered about #PHEV as a technology. I’ve never owned one, but anecdotally a lot of people seem to do all they can to avoid activating the ICE engine. So they’re effectively driving a very short-range EV with a useless 500 lb ICE engine. Is that really a good way to go?

A long time ago I owned an early hybrid (not PHEV): a 7th gen Honda Civic Hybrid. Regular hybrids still make logical sense to me…for some reason. I just wonder about PHEV.

EV Curve Futurist - · Why PHEVs Are Losing Their Shine - EV Curve FuturistPlug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) have long been seen as a bridge to fully battery-electric vehicles (BEVs). They offer a compromise for consumers hesitant about range anxiety or limited charging infrastructure. However, as BEVs and charging networks advance rapidly, PHEVs are increasingly viewed as less economical and an impediment to electrification. The Economics of PHEVs

We used to be leaders in EV new car sales!
Heres the Q3 2024 sales numbers for #EVs defined as #BEV or #PHEV
#BC 24.9%
#Quebec 34.6%
(#Ontario 9.5% a no incentive policy position)

Quebec has a$7K rebate ( added to the federal $5K). BCs incentive is income based and dissapears with a living wage household.
But Quebec’s rebate drops to $4K January 1st. Buy now!!

Also, both BC & QC have #ZEVmandates that attract EV inventory

#WhyWeCannotHaveNiceThings - Just got a #PHEV and pulled into a Park & Ride garage. I noticed it had about a dozen charging stations and thought I’d give one a try.

While attempting to figure out how to use it I noticed that its cable was missing, as were all of the other stations’. Someone looking to score a few $$ at a scrap yard destroyed this community resource in a few minutes.

If I’d been down to my last few watts of juice on a pure #EV I’d have been screwed.
