Charlotte AtenI was a bit slow on this one, but I finally disabled Google Maps on my phone! I've been using Organic Maps (<a href="https://organicmaps.app/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://organicmaps.app/</a>) for a little while now and I've had a great experience. I just have two issues:1) Unless I download Organic Maps from the Google Play Store, I can't use it with Android Auto when I'm in a car. I want to disconnect from Google, so this is not ideal. 2) It seems like <a href="https://fosstodon.org/@organicmaps" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@organicmaps</a> is the official Mastodon account, but they don't have their website verified.It only took a few minutes to copy the places I had saved on Google Maps into a note in <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Fossify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fossify</a> Notes (<a href="https://www.fossify.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://www.fossify.org/</a>). Lianna (on Mastodon)(Post 2/2)I am right now using @OrganicMaps because it's the only navigation app I have tried that loads the map almost instantly, doesn't lag, and has great support for on-foot and bicycle routing.But the navigation options are very minimal (avoid unpaved roads, motorways, tolls etc). I'd like more options like detailed in the post above. It’s a gain for you and OSS and something big Tech might actually notice if done by a lot of people. I was really impressed by the quality that OSM has nowadays (at least where I live).

Slight downside is that it doesn't monitor traffic and adjust the route to suit. Irritating but not life threatening.Nice feature is it downloads maps for an area doesn't need to use data while traveling.

So there was no mobile signal, no route signals, no marked paths. Funny situation :). There was only one option. I found a new trail, and everything end nice and safe.Organic maps, is a fantastic map app. And it is, right now, a must-have tool for me.Thanks.
