iliazeus
A question for #OpenStreetMap people.

I am traveling abroad in a couple weeks, and I plan to rely on OSM (via OsmAnd on my phone) for navigation. The place where I'm planning to go doesn't have its bus routes on OSM though, which is a pain, since I plan on mostly using public transport. I have managed to find on the interned several bus route maps; however, they are not laid out on an actual street map, instead just depicting the routes, stops, and a couple landmarks - like subway maps often do, basically. This makes them very hard to use for me, since I have no idea where all the stops are actually located.

I have zero experience working with OSM, or with any map-editing software, though.

Another issue is that I don't speak the language of that country. The place I'm going to visit is pretty touristy, so I expect to get by with my English. However, at least some of the more "newbie-oriented" OSM editors (like this one, for example) seem to default to rendering the map in the "native" language for that place. And that language uses a non-Latin writing system that I don't know and have no way of even inputting currently.

Considering all these limitations, what would be the easiest way to add those bus routes on the map?

If everything fails, I don't mind paying some money for a more experienced person to just do it for me. But I really want to try it myself first, though.

I also don't even really mind just having a way to have them displayed locally in OsmAnd, if adding them to the actual OSM data will not be possible.

(boosts appreciated!)

#OSM #maps
