A classic but of declaratory #politics from #MichaelGove:

You'll recall his much heralded relaxation of David Cameron's effective ban on #onshorewind turbines (by removing the one person veto on planning applications)... but because he did little else, leaving planning for #Wind on land still pretty tough, there remain no on-going onshore wind generation projects.

It may be too early to conclude his action was completely useless but the indication(s) are not good

The Guardian · Zero onshore wind plans submitted in England since de facto ban was ‘lifted’By Helena Horton

Its a strange world where the UK's Govt. is seeking to 'streamline' the planning process for the landing point of the world's longest subsea #electricity cable to underpin a 25 year deal to import #solar generated electricity from #Morocco, at the same time that it does little to ease the planning for #onshorewind & (through a lack of flexibility) undermines new #offshorewind projects...

That said, at this stage the project may never get going if the financing doesn't materialise!

So it looks like there have been no bidders in the latest round for #offshorewind licences/support packages (because the package took no account of the industries soaring costs, like to UK's current #inflation), while the #onshorewind 'relaxation' has been a damp squib, with few thinking its going to re-invigorate the onshore wind sector..

To be frank its like the Govt. isn't really interesting in #renewableenergy...

Oh hold on.... aren't the #Tories in the pockets of the #fossilfuel firms?
