The story would of course be called like the ship. So, this ship needed a name.I didn't want to have a straightforward <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/ScienceFiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ScienceFiction</a> universe like we see it so often: clean, streamlined, functional. Because humantity isn't like that, history isn't like that. There are always fallbacks into earlier eras, idiosyncracies, counterintuitive, illogical bits. It is complex, not simple.So, the ship would need a name that reflects that. And since it is part of a fleet it needed a name that fit into a naming convention for the rest of the fleet. The most obvious choice is to name a ship after a bird.
