phildini<p>To be clear, there are conferences I used to _organize_ that have moved mostly online and which for one reason or another I don't attend in their online form.</p><p>These are mostly conferences I was doing purely for fun, with no impact to my work.</p><p>But <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/PyCon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PyCon</span></a> is both my "home" conference (although <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/NBPy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NBPy</span></a> continues to give a run for money), and critical to both my career and side-projects.</p>

I've mentioned that the event is pretty special, but it's hard to succinctly articulate why in a direct way. Running a community conference for cheap is a difficult slog. Our cheaper tickets are offered as close to the margin as we can possibly afford. Unless something changes on the sponsor/donation side, this is going to be difficult to catch up.</p>
