A large shelf polypore, with multiple lobes, sticks out from between the moss covering an old fallen tree. The fungus is mostly dark brown but its edges have a spectrum of red and cream.

some young rich golden shelf mushrooms, slightly covered in needles, branch out from a deep emerald green mossy tree root

a cantankerous bulbous old conk protrudes from the side of a tree, wearing an expression a bit like Roz from Monsters Inc.

tucked away in a mossy tree stump, an object I'm not entirely certain is a mushroom? with a scored surface similar to a wooden ball that had been manually shaved away by a student sculptor, but perhaps a tiny mushroom whose surface had been nibbled at by a slug or something else, but not quite "natural" looking

the end of a sawed branch, with two specimens of fungus growing from it; the top cream white, and the bottom pastel brown; perhaps an age gap between the same species? lots of blurry mosses & lichens in the background

Found some nifty fungus friends growing on this standing dead birch yesterday.

Several shelf fungi growing on the trunk of a grey birch tree. The photo is taken from below so you can see that they have toothed undersides.

The same set of shrooms from a side view. They are smooth on top and kind of grey/beige/silvery in color.

a late entry for #MushroomMonday , from a walk this afternoon around a lake still in the process of thawing from the recent freeze, some of these really are year round

a still-standing tree completely subsumed by hundreds of turkey tail mushrooms, currently mostly golden

a slight close-up of the back of the tree, where the mushrooms' color changes from gold-tan to green based on where the moss on the tree was located, suggesting they display the characteristics of the nutrients they absorb

a high-contrast view of a deep green mossy log with a small patch of dark brown turkey tail mushrooms with sharp white borders

a conk-type mushroom at the base of a tree, whose stripes of whites and pastel greens mimic the bark of the tree it's growing from

These photos of a new polypore mushroom beginning to form were taken 8 weeks apart. You can make out the gradual color transformation as the white in the December photo becomes a cream in the February photo. The white of the snow really sets it off!
