#mumps

After a friend's mom (in her 80s) ended up in urgent care because she was afraid she had contracted #measles (it ended up being #shingles) I decided to get the vaccine for myself.

Except ... my doctor wouldn't approve it until I had a titer test to determine if I had immunity.

Got the results back today and I have immunity for both #mumps and #rubella (I sort of mostly remember having them) but no immunity for measles.

I am both kind of tired of getting jabbed and grateful that there are jab-worthy vaccinations still available.

The vaccines recommended for children guard against preventable illnesses such as measles, #mumps, #chickenpox, #pertussis and many others. In the last several years, communities in Minnesota, New York and Washington experienced outbreaks of measles due to low vaccination rates among certain populations. #publichealth #education ncsl.org/health/routine-child-

#COVID lulls aren't being earned by policy; they're being bought with infections and deaths thegauntlet.news/p/covid-lulls “So, if we were to eliminate the #diphtheria, #pertussis, #mumps, #measles, and #polio #vaccines, normalize the spread of all these viruses, use a year in which mortality was high for our analysis, and adjust for population, we would expect 43,079 Americans to die each year, of all five combined.

Last year over 75,603 Americans died of COVID. An undercount.”

New polling finds only 67 per cent of Canadian parents say they would vaccinate their child "without reservation," down from 88% five years ago.

"We don't believe vaccines work"

Unfortunately, medical advancement has created this false sense of security in younger adults that all childhood illnesses are mild or treatable.
