As conservation burial sites multiply, this movement challenges the funeral industry's environmental footprint.

The Campbells' vision? To restore and rewild a million acres through conservation burials - reconnecting us with death, one burial at a time.

Without #communication there can be no #resistance.

Communication is what allows isolated #dissidents to join up, understand their situation, and #plan for #action It is what allows a resistance group to break its isolation to become part of a #movement, rooted in larger #society.

#Resisters need to #communicate to #strategize, #analyze, #mobilize, and #act, especially under #repressive #surveillance states. Good communication is a prequisite to successful #recruiting, #fundraising, and movement-building in general.

And conversely, it is the #corporatemedia and other official channels of communication that allow the government to #control the popular #narrative and imagination, to #smear or #deceive resisters, to divide dissidents against each other, even to obscure or #erase struggles for #justice from collective memory. So it's no surprise-with so much at stake that effective resisters fight to reach out and communicate.

Rarely is that as dramatic as the takeover of a TV station in the middle of a parliamentary broadcast. Communication through less fantastic methods (giving #interviews, making #websites, and sharing #pamphlets) is no less important. Effective communication doesn't have to be a spectacle (and the drive to make it a spectacle can be a trap the mass media use to distort movements).

I’m not going to tell you here how to make a zine or write a press release; those practicalities are handled in more detail elsewhere. I'm going to address bigger questions that are discussed less often:

How do resistance movements communicate externally to reach #sympathizers and #supporters?

How do they deal with the power and contradictions of the mass media?

How do they communicate internally to build a shared culture and organize action?

And how do they maintain safe communication - especially in #underground groups-when dealing with repressive states and pervasive surveillance?

We must limit executive overreach.

# 🚨 URGENT: CALL TO ACTION 🚨

The current administration has made it clear: profits over people. We refuse to stand by while they dismantle our rights, our communities, and our #future.

We are not just numbers. We are not just #consumers. We are the #People.

We reject #fascism. We reject the #oligarchy. We reject any system that places #profit, #power, or #privilege over human #dignity.

50501 is not just a movement—it’s a national call for justice that’s already making waves. On February 5th, thousands of you showed up, proving that when we rise together, we are unstoppable.

Now, we need you again.

***This is our next moment. Our next stand. Our next show of strength.***

On February 17th, we unite nationwide for a Day of #Action.

A day to #resist. A day to #disrupt. A day to #reclaim our power.

We are asking YOU to take 5 Steps of #Resistance:

🔥 1. SHOW UP: Attend or #organize a #protest in your city. Make our #voices impossible to ignore.

🧠 2. STRATEGIZE: Meet with local #organizers. Strengthen our #movement from the ground up.

📢 3. FLOOD THE SYSTEM: Call, #email, and write to your representatives—demand action and #accountability.

✊ 4. AMPLIFY: Bring at least one new person into the movement. Grow our force.

💙 5. PROTECT YOUR POWER: Take a moment of self-care. Your joy, your rest, and your #resilience are acts of #defiance.

**📅 Mark your calendar. Spread the word. Be ready.**

🚨 FEBRUARY 17 – WE RISE TOGETHER. 🚨

Want american Democrats to ACTUALLY DO something already?

Consider Direct Action instead!
But as well as that, we *do* need a non-corrupt (yet! there's always time, ofc) replacement party that is ACTUALLY left-wing.

Tea Party and MAGA supporters did it. Don't follow their strategies completely, but DO LEARN FROM them. We All deserve better, even the Leopards Eating People's Faces party.

How many of them would have supported having their faces eaten if they KNEW it wasn't hyperbole or something?
Or if they took time to imagine and plan for the risks: their or loved ones' faces being eaten by leopards?

generalstrikeus.com/aboutus

There is a growing #movement calling on #Americans from every walk of life to join forces for a mass #generalstrike. This isn’t just about one group or one issue—it’s about #uniting as a #nation to #demand the #change we deserve.

Our #goal is bold yet achievable: we aim to gather 11 million pledgees—representing 3.5% of the U.S. population—to refuse to #work until our collective demands are met. Why 11 million?

#Climate #protesters storm Phillips 66 oil facility in L.A.,
demanding oil companies ‘pay up’ for recent wildfires

Dozens of climate protesters with #Sunrise #Movement LA rallied outside Phillips 66’s Los Angeles Lubricant Terminal on Thursday morning,
with 16 demonstrators storming the facility’s office building.

As Los Angeles reels from what is projected to be one of the most costly natural disasters in U.S. history,
the youth climate activist group says big oil companies are culpable,
by emitting greenhouse gases while internally acknowledging the practice’s link to climate change,
which, in turn, has worsened wildfires in California.

Sunrise Movement LA is demanding big oil companies, including Phillips 66, “
pay up” to support wildfire relief and aid the state’s transition to clean energy.
“Fossil fuel CEOs are responsible for the destruction that is happening right now in Los Angeles,” said Simon Aron, 18, a Sunrise Movement volunteer and the action lead for Thursday’s protest.

“They are responsible for the fact that me and my neighbors had to evacuate our homes, that we still can’t drink our water.”

On a #Mission From #God: Examining the #Movement to Redirect Billions of #Taxpayer #Dollars to #Private #Religious #Schools

Universal #vouchers, once promoted as a #civil rights initiative to help #poor #kids in #underfunded #schools, are now a nationwide #moneygrab.

Funds mostly benefit #parents who can already afford #tuition and #kids already in #private #schools, diverting resources from those who need them most.

NewsflareMeet the "dad" who made sure 1,000 LGBTQ+ people had "stand-in parent" at weddingsMeet the "dad" who has ensured more than 1,000 LGBTQ+ people have had a "stand-in parent" to stand by their side during important life milestones." In 2021, Daniel Blevins posted a TikTok video which sparked his global movement. Inspired by his upbringing in rural East Tennessee — where he said LGBTQ+ representation was nonexistent — the 48-year-old offered to be a "stand-in dad" for LGBTQ+ people whose families wouldn't attend their weddings. " "I was always looking for ways to be the representation I didn't have growing up," Daniel, a hair salon owner and founder of the nonprofit organization Stand in Pride, shared. " "I was also inspired by Sarah Cunningham, the founder of Free Mom Hugs, who offered to do something similar as a mom for LGBTQ+ weddings." The idea quickly struck a chord. "The video got some traction," the Oneida, Tennessee native recalled. " "A lot of people in the comments said, ‘I would love to do this.' Others said, ‘I'm not getting married, but I would love to have a parental figure in my chosen family.'" " Recognizing a need for connection beyond TikTok comments, Daniel created a private Facebook group in February 2021. "It quickly grew. We currently have 26 Facebook groups and well over 300,000 members around the world. " "And we just launched our very own app, so now we're transitioning from Facebook to our own platform." Through Stand in Pride, people offering support can post about themselves, their interests, or their families, while those seeking support can connect privately. To date more than 1,000 people have acted as stand in parents for people who didn't have a mom or dad to stand by their side, during important life moments. "It works both ways," Daniel explained. "Someone offering support might post, and someone looking for a connection could reach out — or vice versa. " "It could be as simple as saying, ‘I'm here, I'm looking for this.' Then a conversation starts." For Daniel, being a stand-in dad is more than a symbolic gesture. He's personally stood in at two weddings and been a "virtual dad" for countless others when they need me." "I flew to California last summer for one and drove two hours in Tennessee for another. But the support goes far beyond weddings," he said. " Although he has "no way of knowing" how many stand-in moms and dads Stand in Pride has provided because "those connections happen privately," the benefits of his organization have been apparent." One story that stood out early on involved a young trans man preparing for a job interview. "He couldn't tie a tie, so some dads jumped on FaceTime and taught him. " "We've had parents help with buying homes or cars, sharing recipes, and even just texting or FaceTiming to check in. " "It doesn't always have to be in person — it's about showing up however you can." Stand in Pride has had an immeasurable impact. "I've had people tell me, ‘Thanks to this group, I'm still here.' It saved my life," Daniel shared." "I never imagined a small gesture could turn into something like this." " The group has even played a role in helping members escape dangerous situations. "We've had members rescued from domestic violence and homelessness. Those are their stories to tell, but I can tell you they happened." For Daniel, it's all about the small acts of kindness that build meaningful connections. "A lot of us take having affirming families for granted," he said. " "For so many, it's the difference between feeling alone and knowing someone has your back. A small gesture can truly change someone's life." Today, Daniel continues to grow Stand in Pride, working tirelessly to make sure no LGBTQ+ person feels unsupported. "The feedback has been amazing," he said. "What started as a simple idea has become a global community of love, acceptance, and support."
