Radical Anthropology<p>Day 3: This was a RAG classic, a wonderful ZOOM with the amazing <a href="https://c.im/tags/MornaFinnegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MornaFinnegan</span></a> on 'Is there any Body out there? Radical Anthropology<p>The dynamic of <a href="https://c.im/tags/sexstrike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sexstrike</span></a> has been described as 'communism in motion' by our colleague <a href="https://c.im/tags/MornaFinnegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MornaFinnegan</span></a>. See her wonderful piece 'Politics of Eros' on gender as collective action in a nonprivatised society. The pendulum of power keeps swinging between the sexes -- as long as women keep their bodies in motion hierarchy never gets the chance to flood back in.</p><p>This is government by dancing.</p><p><a href="https://rai.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/1467-9655.12060" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">rai.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/do</span><span class="invisible">i/abs/10.1111/1467-9655.12060</span></a></p>
Radical Anthropology<p>And the wonderful <a href="https://c.im/tags/MornaFinnegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MornaFinnegan</span></a> on <br>'The Politics of Eros'</p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/huntergatherers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>huntergatherers</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/women" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>women</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/solidarity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solidarity</span></a></p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/-vrD1sBWqm8?si=MDUxy-MNwOFdyMn7" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">youtu.be/-vrD1sBWqm8?si=MDUxy-</span><span class="invisible">MNwOFdyMn7</span></a></p>
Radical Anthropology<p>During <a href="https://c.im/tags/Ngoku" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ngoku</span></a> it is MEN who lower their gaze. Women in ritual revisit original <a href="https://c.im/tags/time" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>time</span></a> of <a href="https://c.im/tags/creation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>creation</span></a> and original GENDER. It's kind of 'trans' or 'wrong sex'. They are SEXY + FEMALE + MALE. They're ritually powerful. NOT available to mere men.</p><p>In 'The Politics of Eros', RAG'S <a href="https://c.im/tags/MornaFinnegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MornaFinnegan</span></a> writes of 'bodies in motion'. The simmering of singing, of dancing, a visceral <a href="https://c.im/tags/churning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>churning</span></a> that never allows any fixity of <a href="https://c.im/tags/hierarchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hierarchy</span></a> to flood back in. She speaks of a 'pendulum of power' oscillating between women and men.</p>
