#Trump’s #BigBill Would Let Him Expand His #LosAngeles #ImmigrationCrackdown ‘Everywhere’

“If it works out well in L.A., expect it everywhere,” a Trump official says of the admin’s plans for #militarized #ICERaids around the country

By Andrew Perez, Asawin Suebsaeng
June 12, 2025

"Donald Trump’s '#BigBeautifulBill' wouldn’t just force millions of #poor people off their #HealthInsurance and #FoodAssistance to help pay for more #TaxCuts for the rich.

"The Trump #TaxBill would steer tens of billions of dollars to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for #detention capacity, employee bonuses, and to hire new agents. It would supercharge ICE’s ability to conduct raids, and allow the administration to expand the campaign of terror it’s waging on immigrants in Los Angeles to blue cities around the country.

"ICE’s aggressive worksite raids and courthouse arrests throughout the Los Angeles area have, of course, inspired a wave of protests — giving the president an excuse to send the U.S. military to a Democratic city, something he’s long fantasized about, while inspiring demonstrations across the country.

" 'This bill would give Donald Trump the ability to do what he’s doing [in California] on a scale we really haven’t seen before,' says #DavidBier, the director of immigration studies at the #CatoInstitute, a libertarian think tank. 'He will be able to replicate this militarized approach to Los Angeles across maybe dozens of American cities.'

"For Trump and key officials, including immigration-crackdown policy architect #StephenMiller, this is exactly the point, with Los Angeles currently being used as an autocratic staging area. They want to replicate this militarized, ramped-up blitz of ICE raids, backed by the U.S. armed forces, in several other Democratic strongholds — particularly if larger-scale protests spread to other cities.

"As Rolling Stone previously reported, the president and his senior officials have already mapped out near-term plans for how to further ratchet up the already tense blitz of ICE operations, especially in the coming days in Los Angeles, where the federal agents are now being protected by Trump’s literal troop deployment to the city, against the wishes of Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

"Sources familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone that senior Trump administration officials are closely monitoring the situation in L.A. as a test case for what they want to do soon in places such as #Chicago, #philadelphia #BostonMA, or the #WashingtonDC, area."

Rolling Stone · Trump’s Big Bill Would Let Him Expand His L.A. Immigration Crackdown ‘Everywhere’By Andrew Perez

#Saanich municipal government, under #bootlicker, #colonialism heavy guy, Mayor Dean Murdock, gave millions to increase #SaanichPolice budgets - that was mostly spent on buying #militarized SUVs & didn't help to increase but decreased #CommunitySafety. While he is trying to tell us that #PropertyTax increases will be raised to near 10% - fucking #corruption BS. He is #SaanichPoliceBoard chair. No #mayors should be on ANY #PoliceBoard chairs because it is a HUGE #ConflictOfPublicInterest

#SaanichCouncil is also full of #eugenics #antimaskers. Don't believe my words alone. Watch their recent municipal council meetings. Full of eugenics enablers & #antimaskers. Shoddy council, full of lying, plague spreading #hypocrites.

I don't mince any words to comfort the already comfy colonial enablers.

How #NativeHawaiians Have Fought for #Sovereignty

Ever since the US overthrew the #Hawaiian monarchy in an illegal #coup, Native islanders responded with #protest, #activism and expressions of #cultural pride.

"Ever since white Christian #missionaries first arrived in Hawaii (Native spelling: Hawai‘i) in the 1820s, the islands’ Native people have found their sovereignty, culture and way of life under increasing threat. For two centuries, many have resisted.

"The threats began early. By 1840, some scholars estimate, the Native Hawaiian population had plummeted by as much as 84 percent, largely due to diseases introduced by Western #colonizers. In 1893, an illegal coup, orchestrated by a handful of white planters [#Dole] and #businessmen, ousted the sovereign Hawaiian monarchy. Five years later, the United States annexed Hawaii, viewing the islands as both a rich agricultural resource and a strategic perch in the Pacific.

"And in 1959, the U.S. legislature voted to make Hawaii America’s 50th state. During that time, colonizers confiscated lands and #militarized parts of the island. They suppressed traditional cultural and #spiritual practices. And they banned the Hawaiian language in schools and government.

"Native Hawaiians have responded with protest, activism and expressions of Indigenous cultural pride. In the 1880s, #KingDavidKalākaua kindled nationalism and promoted Hawaii internationally as an independent sovereign kingdom. He also fostered what came to be known as the First Hawaiian Renaissance, reviving traditional cultural practices like hula dancing, an integral part of Native Hawaiian storytelling—and outlawed since 1830, largely because missionaries did not understand its cultural importance and viewed it as a pagan ritual. The Second Hawaiian Renaissance flourished in the 1960s and ’70s. Today, Native #HawaiianSovereignty remains a critical issue, informing contemporary protests against militarism, imperialism and occupation.

"'Resistance and nationalism have been intertwined throughout the last two hundred years of the history of Hawaii,' writes Noenoe Silva, a scholar of Indigenous politics at the University of Hawaii and author of Aloha Betrayed: Native Hawaiian #Resistance to American #Colonialism."

HISTORY · How Native Hawaiians Have Fought for SovereigntyBy Kelli Y. Nakamura

Three #NativeAmerican Tribes are doing business with corporations responsible for war crimes in #Palestine: #Israel's #Elbit Systems, and the U.S. #Corporations of #Raytheon Missiles, #GeneralDynamics and #Caterpillar

By #BrendaNorrell, #CensoredNews, May 28, 2024

TUCSON -- "Native American Tribes are partnered with corporations responsible for #WarCrimes in Palestine. The #ConfederatedSalishAndKootenai Tribe of Montana is in a partnership with #ElbitSystems, an Israeli weapons producer. #Salish and #Kootenai own #InternationalTowers, and in partnership with Elbit, built #SpyTowers, known as integrated fixed towers, on the #TohonoOodham Nation.

"Caterpillar, being used for the destruction of Palestinian homes, has a facility located on the #Tohono O'odham Nation's Tech Park in the San Xavier District near Tucson.

"Raytheon #Dine' Facility, is located on the #NavajoNation, south of Farmington, New Mexico, and produces missile parts for Raytheon, among the top war profiteers in Palestine.
Raytheon, and International Towers, are tenants at the University of Arizona Tech Park in Tucson.

"Ofelia Rivas, Tohono O'odham, lives in the western portion of the Tohono O'odham Nation, where the Salish and Kootenai tribal enterprise constructed the spy towers. Rivas describes the #Militarized partnership.
'#Infiltration today is in our faces, a blatant lack of integrity by tribes and institutions. #TribalGovernments are enticed by university programs for young people. The young people unknowingly become partners and #collaborators of the international military complex,' Rivas told Censored News today."

In Backlash to Campus #ProPalestine #Protests, Echoes of #StandingRock and the Global Crackdown on #ClimateProtest

The use of #militarized police and “#antiterrorism” laws against #activists is not new in the U.S.

"As soon as a single #Palestinian activist showed up at an anti-#DakotaAccessPipeline camp on the edge of the Standing Rock reservation in 2016, intelligence analysts for the mercenary security firm #TigerSwan were on alert.

"El-Zabri, the Palestinian activist surveilled at Standing Rock, was among 79 people arrested this week while protesting at the #UniversityOfTexas at #Austin. 'It really felt like the same as Standing Rock, when we were facing the police,' he said.

"''There was a whole army that looked like it was at war in #RiotGear. They eventually used #TearGas and #PepperSpray.'

"'They're afraid of what we have to say and the people that we can touch,' said Cornell senior Yanenowi Logan, who is Deer Clan from the #SenecaNation and has been negotiating with campus administrators.

"Logan said that by standing up for Gazans, she and other Native organizers are also standing up for themselves. 'We want to be able to show them that, hey, we're still here,' she said. 'You can try to kill us. You can burn our crops. You can do whatever you want to do, but we're still going to persist.'"

The transformation of the city’s riverbank into a #militarized zone is harmful, residents said. Soldiers changed the #river’s flow when they bulldozed islands & pushed the land toward #Texas to keep #migrants from gathering on them. The #environmental costs & the amount of #erosion are still not known.

“They’re destroying the river…,” said Jessie Fuentes, who owns a kayaking & canoe biz but is nervous about taking customers out because of all the #RazorWire …beneath the river’s surface.

#Toolkit: #Protest #safety tips from #Greenpeace

"Protest is a powerful strategy to demand #justice. Greenpeace has been holding and supporting protests around the world for nearly 50 years. Because of this, we’ve received requests and messages asking for advice on protest tactics, digital, and physical security against #militarized #police forces. While we have compiled this from a US point of view where this Greenpeace team is based, we hope some of what is here is helpful beyond the US.

"We are continuously learning, learning from mistakes, learning from each other. The #activists that make up our Greenpeace community, also come from many protest practices and methods, including #Indigenous-led resistance to #FossilFuel #extraction, the #ImmigrantRights movement, the Movement for Black Lives, [#BLM] and others. We wanted to share some of our learnings so that you can join us in protests that demand systemic changes from fighting for #ClimateJustice to dismantling #WhiteSupremacy. We support you and are fighting with you.

"We want to acknowledge that there are many different types of protest tactics, and that this is not an exhaustive list. We also want to acknowledge that communities of color, especially Black communities and other non-Black Indigenous and communities of color, are policed differently than white communities.

"When we protest we have an opportunity to demand the world we need and to understand how the issues we face are interconnected. As we fight for environmental justice, we show up for racial justice, Indigenous rights, immigrant rights, disability rights and more. While this guide focuses on protests, even if you are not able to join us in the street you can support those who are protesting by providing supplies, donating to bail funds, providing rides, having important conversations with your coworkers, friends, families, and neighbors.

"Also, we want to remind you that we are not your lawyers. This is not legal advice, any tips contained here are only to assist you in thinking through how to engage in protest activity. We urge you to connect with your local organizing and legal community for additional support."
