Our meta-analysis on the impact of neonicotinoids on birds is out at Ecology Letters: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/fu

A massive effort by my co-authors putting together such a comprehensive dataset (1612 effect sizes from 49 studies). The results unfortunately show consistent negative effects of neonicotinoid exposure on bird health, behaviour, reproduction, and survival and might be a contributing factor to the extensive bird declines globally.

#MetaAnalysis question - help much appreciated!

The Cochrane manual says that for metaregression sample size, "at least ten observations (i.e. ten studies in a meta-analysis) should be available for each characteristic modelled".

Let's say you wanted to conduct a meta-regression for a categorical variable, for which all studies are coded either X or Y. Is the minimum number of studies needed:

A) 10 in total
B) At least 10 studies coded X or Y (whichever is least frequent)

Many thanks!

Love the idea of #Introduction posts!

Hi I'm David, a #statistician & #methodologist at #UCL, working in #ClinicalTrials and #MetaAnalysis (MA), particularly in #oncology & with #survival data. I've been involved in large-scale #RCTs, meta-analysis of #COVID19 data on behalf of #WHO, and currently working with large-scale #IPDMA in #prostateCancer. Main methodological interest is treatment interactions with observed patient #subgroups in MA. I also write & maintain #Stata packages.

Changed server so forgive me for another #introduction:
I grew up in Northern Ontario (Sudbury) and worked in a nickel smelter and copper refinery during college, now I’m a prof in #ecology, #evolution, #metaAnalysis, #entomology, #parasitology in #Tampa #Florida (University of South Florida)

I love #Rstats #statistics #datascience #math #dataviz, I’m always looking for new graduate #students, and I sometimes post videos on #YouTube

Cheers friends!

#Introduction time

Hi everyone !

I'm Léa (she/her), postdoc in #Ecology at CNRS/University of Toulouse, France.

I'm interested in #SoilBiodiversity and #EcosystemFunctioning and the impacts of #GlobalChange such as #pollution.

Currently I study how a top predator (lizard) modulates the impacts of #climatechange on #belowground and #aboveground communities in a long term exciting experiment.

I mostly do #rstats now and am big fan of #metaanalysis and data synthesis in general.
