There is a price to pay for purchasing an EV or indeed and ICEV similarly connected and dependent that is rarely talked about and the dependency correlates with IoT roll-out in all manner of consumer products. </p><p>You wake one morning and find your coffee machine and toasters disabled by a govt agency because you failed to pay a fine. Your fridge won’t open. Your water and energy supplies are shut off, your tv non functional, and you can’t even get your electric bicycle out of the garage because it’s too heavy without assist and the garage door won’t open. At night, none of your lights come on and your front door is permanently unlocked. All the while installed security cameras, the cameras on your disabled mobile, iPad and PC are used to keep an eye on you. Total dystopia within the realm of current technology. We should all be afraid. </p><p>That’s where dark thoughts take you. Better to make informed decisions about what you purchase and question the need to purchase it.
