I am here to report that it is quite windy outside and that my electric company sent an email today reminding me that wind can take down power lines.
The subtext of that is: we "repair" the power lines in your cheap-ass neighborhood with squirrel spit, duct tape, and tinfoil (and sometimes with thoughts and prayers), so you're doomed, buddy.
Also, we are slated for a surprise snowstorm tonight that has been billed as a blizzard because of the high winds.
It's #Kansas. We are used to these kinds of sudden changes. We went from unseasonably warm 60°F+ and scarily pleasant spring #weather to this crap within a few hours.
I've been practicing "not having power" to my new refrigerator, but I keep forgetting to plug the EcoFlow River 2 back in before it dies completely. D'oh!
It's really not big enough to power the fridge for more than three hours on its own. To the fridge's credit, it is super-insulated and seems to hold temp perfectly for many hours after I forget to plug in the backup battery.
I do have my larger battery system waiting in the wings but man, I don't want to have to use it.
I think I'm gonna go take to my bed now. This shit is stressful. Maybe I'll just wake up to a little snow and power still on in the morning.
If so, it could be a good waffle-making morning.
