For that, specifically, I can only recommend: If a mail provider refuses to conform to standard auth protocols, they're a lost cause, ditch that provider.

Thunderbird for Android has reached beta testing, and you can grab it from the Google Play Store. A version should follow on the #FOSS F-Droid store soon.
Thunderbird for Android is not a ground-up new project but is based on the existing #K9Mail application, which is 15 years old: it débuted late in October 2008. I installed the beta, and it describes itself as version 8.0b2.

finally switched completely from K-9 to FairEmail client and... man it's so flexible in terms of configuration! really loving it

also discovered a Librewolf-like fork of Thunderbird called Betterbird – going to test it and choose between that and GNOME Evolution client (only those two from my experience have proper and intuitive OpenPGP support out of the box)

✉️ For the 2nd time I gave #FairEmail a chance, but sorry, no... the setup and settings are so confusing and complex, I am really not able to use it (saying that as a geek is quite surprising, isn't it).
