@Professor_Stevens I’m sure that’s true. But the demand to show gratitude only came out after #Zelensky’s comment. So if #JD’s anti-Biden tirade had been left at that, the outbreak might not have occurred.
#Vance and #Trump live for media attention. So injecting opposition during their moment was a bad idea.
Now, real statesmen would have just shrugged it off. Said ‘Thank, President, let’s discuss that very matter today’. Unfortunately the US doesn’t have that.

FWIW I also don’t think it was orchestrated by #Russia, although it does benefit Kremlin. But picture the press conference just ending after #JD. It would have rightfully been considered a stupid comment, but just one more in a line of many stupid comments by the White House geniuses.
It’s also possible #Zelensky didn’t really care for the deal or plan to sign it. In that case it was not a mistake. But if there was any desire to sign a deal with #Trump, then it was lost in that moment.
I’ve repeatedly viewed the video and considered it some time. I think #Zelensky made a tactical blunder.
#JD #Vance was talking to the media, not Zelensky, on diplomacy. It was the often repeated anti-Biden nonsense that the pair seem stuck with for some weird reason. It didn’t need or deserve a response. Doing that was a mistake. We know how thin-skinned JD and #Trump are.
The pile-on that followed was utterly shameful. #Ukraine has my full support but they lost a deal in that moment.
