While I work more in <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/VSCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VSCode</span></a> than in <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/IntelliJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IntelliJ</span></a> these days, I still much prefer the latter for that purpose. It feels like quite a big hammer to wield for that particular nail though, so I'd love to know what other options there are! Perhaps something built specifically for just that? Any suggestions welcome :)</p>

Geert Bevin<p>Over the last year, many people have asked us about IDE integration for our pure <a href="https://uwyn.net/tags/Java" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Java</span></a> build tool <a href="https://uwyn.net/tags/bld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bld</span></a>. Peter Mount<p>Tip if you use the Jetbrains IDE's like IntelliJ or Goland etc and you want to disable the AI assistant.</p><p>On a per-project basis add an empty file called .noai to the project root then it will be disabled in source control.</p><p>At the IDE level to permanently disable it go into Settings -&gt; Plugins -&gt; Installed and clear the checkbox where it's enabled.</p><p>For me, it was just an annoyance with a 💡 light bulb on the current line obscuring the first 2 characters.</p><p><a href="https://area51.social/tags/ai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ai</span></a> <a href="https://area51.social/tags/noAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>noAI</span></a> <a href="https://area51.social/tags/jetbrains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>jetbrains</span></a> <a href="https://area51.social/tags/GoLand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoLand</span></a> <a href="https://area51.social/tags/IntelliJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IntelliJ</span></a></p>

Jon Collins 👨🏻‍💻<p>I continue to be fascinated by <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Chromebooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Chromebooks</span></a>. I dug out an old (2017) Lenovo MediaTek <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/ARM64" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ARM64</span></a> Chromebook - dusted it off, updated ChromeOS, enabled Linux Container, allocated some space to the VM, and proceeded to install JDK-19.0.2, <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/VSCode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VSCode</span></a>, <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/IntelliJ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IntelliJ</span></a>, and <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/GoLand" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GoLand</span></a>. The IDE's are a little chunky during builds, ngl, but the fact that you can get a decent dev machine up on a $100 chromebook, is so cool. Never let someone gatekeep you and tell you HAVE to have a mac. Code on whatever you want!</p>
Alex Nedelcu<p>I think <a href="https://social.alexn.org/tags/Scala" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Scala</span></a> deserves criticism, but when I think about the state of the tooling and the ecosystem, I can't help but feel that the build tools and the IDEs are freaking awesome.</p><p>Metals may have some bugs, but have you considered how awesome it is that we have a language server that freaking works?
