#DOJ drops lawsuit against #ProudBoys, #OathKeepers over violent #Jan6 #insurrection

The DC AG’s office has dropped a lawsuit against the Proud Boys & Oath Keepers over the J6 attack on the US Capitol, saying in a court filing that the city was unlikely to recover enough money to justify continuing legal action against the far-right groups & others it had sought to hold responsible for the riot. [money?! It’s not about money 🤬! It’s about #law & #order & #democracy!]

The Washington Post · D.C. drops lawsuit against Proud Boys, Oath Keepers over Jan. 6 attackBy Ellie Silverman

The deletions began shortly after #Trump took office. #CDC web pages on #vaccines, #HIV prevention, & #ReproductiveHealth went missing. Findings on #BirdFlu transmission vanished minutes after they appeared. The #Census Bureau’s public repository went offline, then returned w/o certain directories of geographic info. The #DOJ expunged the #Jan6th #insurrection from its site, & whitehouse.gov took down an explainer page about the #Constitution.

The New Yorker · The Volunteer Data Hoarders Resisting Trump’s PurgeBy Julian Lucas

If a revolution starts...

I'm definitely using Jarritos bottles for my Molotov Cocktails.

Just for the SASS.

I feel if I am burning down an American building, I should use a one dollar bottle from Mexico to do it.

Effective with funds management too!

Seriously though, this is such an insane time to live in.

I have seriously considered if I would join an #insurrection and I would.

I will be one of the targets as someone gay and mentally ill. I'm not dying without a fight.

Speaking in support of the #censure of Representative Al Green, Rep Dan Newhouse said "We cannot ignore the wilful disruption intended to stop a proceeding". To his credit, Rep. Newhouse did vote to #impeach President Trump for inciting an #insurrection back in 2021, but 197 house members and 43 senators voted to ignore Pres. Trump's wilful disruption of the proceeding that ratified Biden's election win.

Is it any wonder that people have so little #trust in politicians?

>> If TWO #Democratic presidents (#Obama and #Biden) — both of whom knew about Trump's #Russia connections — did nothing to save us, there is really nothing left that Democrats as a political party have to offer us.

The mantra should have been "When They Go Low…" … We #GoBallistic — right from the #Obama years.

When #Biden got a chance, he had bipartisan public support after #Jan6 #insurrection.

Yet, he chose #Garland as his AG and THEN cut off his balls 😡

…At the heart of the controversy is the vague language of #Trump’s mass #pardons for #Jan6 *rioters*. He granted #clemency to anyone “convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Jan 6 defendants have repeatedly argued that the language is so broad it covers other #crimes that have nothing to do w/Jan 6 but were discovered during the vast #criminal probe stemming from the Capitol attack.

“As a result of *those actions*, we’re now going to be suspending & putting under review #security clearances for employees at that firm & holding people responsible,” Scharf said.
[doing their jobs]

#Trump quipped that they would call the memo the “deranged Jack Smith signing,” invoking a pejorative he has frequently used to attack the former special counsel.

#Trump on Tues signed a memo suspending #security clearances for employees at a #law firm who assisted w/fmr special counsel #JackSmith’s investigation into the now-president.

WH staff secy Will Scharf said…that the memo targeted Washington, DC based law firm Covington & Burling, which provided pro bono #legal services to Smith in his probes of Trump that resulted in 2 #criminal indictments.

During his 2nd admin, #Trump has shown personal animus toward high-ranking #military officers [particularly if they are not white and/or are women], both those on active duty & some who retired years ago.

Trump has suggested that Gen #MarkMilley, his fmr chair of the #JointChiefs who retired in 2023, should be executed for engaging w/his Chinese counterpart during the turmoil surrounding the #Jan6 #insurrection.

After one month in office, #EdMartin appears to be following through, taking actions that have alarmed lawyers inside & outside his office who say he’s leveraging the power of the #DOJ against political opponents & intimidating career prosecutors seen as insufficiently #loyal to #Trump. He fired prosecutors who investigated Trump as a part of special counsel #JackSmith’s team & who worked on #Jan6, 2021, Capitol #insurrection cases.

Read interim US attorney [& #Jan6 #insurrection advocate] #EdMartin’s letters to Democratic lawmakers

The letters are part of what the interim US atty called “#OperationWhirlwind,” a new initiative to prosecute threats against *public officials* [but really just #ElonMusk & #DOGE] at all levels.
