Sir Charles Tupper, Bt.<p>There are some Americans I admire, Martin Luther King and Dwight Eisenhower come to mind.</p><p>George <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/Carlin" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Carlin</span></a> though, is the essential American, the sort of person who could only be an American in his thoughts and manner. He understood what made the United States once the most admired country in the world. But he also saw clearly what the problems were and he was free to express his ideas, jokes, and feelings however he wanted. He served his country in more ways than just as an airman in the USAF.</p><p>I miss him.</p><p>Somewhat relevant, from his final stand-up special:</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxWfUVkpm6A" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">youtube.com/watch?v=ZxWfUVkpm6A</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/boycottUSA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>boycottUSA</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/humour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humour</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/comedy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>comedy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.dk/tags/hero" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hero</span></a></p>
