Tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, mystery squash (probably spaghetti squash), onions, peppers, and peanuts planted! I’ve still got to get some seeds in the ground: sunflowers, marigolds, morning glory, lettuce, and pinto beans. But mostly done.
Tonight’s harvest! Garlic scapes, a strawberry, and chamomile blooms.
Well, everything that’s in the ground so far is loving the rain we’ve gotten this week! And I’ve got my work cut out for me getting the rest in the ground - looking like that’ll be tomorrow’s project. A larger harvest today, and I’ve got to go collect chamomile flowers tomorrow too!
Some new native plant joy Late boneset and early sunflower for a friend working on a wildflower prairie in her backyard, and early sunflower, bergamot, and black eyed susans for my pollinator patch.
Lettuce and strawberries doing nicely! I need to figure out a bigger space for the strawberries as I keep rescuing them (neighbor next door has plants and between runners and birds I keep acquiring them on my side of the fence), but that’s a future me problem.
Peanut seedlings are coming up! This is my first year growing peanuts so the seed starting has been a little nail biting.
Went to the plant swap today and
1) managed to bring home less than I took and
2) got some fun outdoor plants for my garden
Time for:
1) Repotting a ton of stuff, including props for a plant swap next month.
2) Moving pepper starts up to larger containers
3) Starting peanuts and tomatoes
BPE (Big Plant Energy) kind of day. Local plant pop up sale today!
Repotted a few of the plants from the raffle basket I won last weekend. Some of the others need more TLC (a setup with a humidifier) than I can give them, so they’ll be coming with me to one of my dem events this week to get adopted by better plant parents with fancier setups. #plants #HousePlants #GreenAndGrowing
It’s going to be a #GreenAndGrowing kind of week. Spent my evening last night repotting house plants. This morning, listened to a podcast episode about native vs non-native ladybugs and the concerns about removing ladybugs from the PNW to be sold across the US. Now waiting to get in to a plant pop up sale.
Pretty sure the sunflower is peeking over the fence just because the neighbor just got a sweet new puppy and it has to keep an eye on his mischief.
