RaymondPierreL3<p>Well done <a href="https://aus.social/tags/ABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ABC</span></a>. Why listen to some enlightening q&amp;a at the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/NationalPressClub" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NationalPressClub</span></a> when we can cross live to <a href="https://aus.social/tags/PotatoHead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PotatoHead</span></a> spewing some garbage or other… JFC, <a href="https://aus.social/tags/GiveMeBackMyABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GiveMeBackMyABC</span></a></p>
RaymondPierreL3<p>I take issue with most of what the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/ABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ABC</span></a> pushes out these days. I can’t help it. Everytime I read a piece, hear a reportage, in every single instance I pick up a reluctance to pat the Labor govt on the back for the things they get right. It’s not exactly an all out offensive, but I get the feeling <a href="https://aus.social/tags/OurABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OurABC</span></a> is not impartial to this country’s political machinations and tend to put the <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Opposition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Opposition</span></a> in a good light when compared to their somewhat dimmer look at <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Labor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Labor</span></a>. </p><p>Here is an example:<br>“Some households shouldered a huge amount of the burden of the national fight against inflation and their contribution can be counted in real dollars that were taken away from them by higher interest rates (monetary policy) and higher taxation (fiscal policy). To see the politicians taking "credit" for that financial impost would be infuriating.</p><p>There's also the matter of the significant deterioration in the real value of people's wages. By the time the Albanese government came to power in May 2022, the impact of high inflation meant our wages were already buying less than they could buy in 2014. The RBA says that problem could take years to fix.” Source <a href="https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-03-02/why-isnt-the-government-boasting-inflation-saul-eslake/104993774" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">abc.net.au/news/2025-03-02/why</span><span class="invisible">-isnt-the-government-boasting-inflation-saul-eslake/104993774</span></a></p><p>“Higher taxation”, excuse me? Where did the reporter pull that one from? <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Coalition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Coalition</span></a> talking point? <a href="https://aus.social/tags/BlunderingAngus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlunderingAngus</span></a> speaking notes? Cherry picking for the rotten fruit amongst a bountiful harvest?</p><p>As for wages, why is it that the fact these have started to move up for the first time in more than a decade? 15% increases in some well deserving cases. No, of course not. Let’s pick on the fact that purchasing power is still well below inflation…mmmmm, I wonder why that is. RaymondPierreL3<p>Social media should be swamped with more of this:</p><p>“ABC staff work tirelessly to build and maintain the ABC’s independence and integrity. It is the board’s legal duty to protect that independence and integrity. But time and again we see ABC chairs and managing directors do the opposite.”</p><p>Source: <br><a href="https://www.meaa.org/mediaroom/abc-staff-disgusted-by-handling-of-lattouf-case/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">meaa.org/mediaroom/abc-staff-d</span><span class="invisible">isgusted-by-handling-of-lattouf-case/</span></a></p><p>Social Media should be swamped by similar statements from ABC employees (anonymously of course) and fair-dinkum journos ought to expose more… we ought to get back our ABC given we cannot fight the dis-misinformation crud our mainstream media outlets are dishing out. </p><p>Australians are owed the truth, not propaganda, nor ‘normalisation’ of abhorrent political swill. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/GiveMeBackMyABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GiveMeBackMyABC</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/InUnity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InUnity</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/ABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ABC</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Lattouf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lattouf</span></a></p>
RaymondPierreL3<p>From a ‘news’ article on the ABC site today:</p><p>“A Liberal victory at this ACT election required an enthusiastic mood for change across the territory, to make gains in almost every electorate.” </p><p>A change from what? More importantly, to what? Those are the questions to be answered. But, hey, no… the ABC is content to echo a Liberal post-defeat talking point. Watching less and reading less ABC stuff by the day I am sad to admit.</p><p>It goes on to say:<br>“To the extent voters were dissatisfied with a long-term Labor government, they still could not be persuaded to cross over and elect the Liberals.” </p><p>I would have thought that, given the poliing results, they obvioulsy were not dissatisfied. Futhermore, time in office does not come into it at all, that’s another baseless Liberal talking point. More importantly, Canberrans did not buy into the proposed Liberal policies (or lack thereof) or their right-wing alternative govt, and that decided the outcome. The ACT has long been a ‘progressive’ jurisdiction and that is something the conservative Liberals do not aspire to, simple as that. </p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/GiveMeBackMyABC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GiveMeBackMyABC</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/actpol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>actpol</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/CanberraVotes24" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CanberraVotes24</span></a></p>
